Day 3 HS Geometry Fun! - Indirect measurement using Trig
The students made a clinometer using a protractor, straw, index card, string and paper clip. The clinometer was used to measure the angle of elevation needed to calculate heights of objects. The students calculated heights for the football scoreboard, stadium bleachers, football field light poles, the high school gym and the town water tower.
Once computations were completed, they compared them to average heights found on internet for similar objects. All measurements were within the range found for each.
