SEVERE WEATHER RECOVERY UPDATE - 10:20 A.M.
COUNTY ROAD STATUS - As of 10:20 a.m., the following roads in York County are blocked or partially blocked:
• 100 block of Bayview Drive - Tree down with wires
• Lakeside Drive and Dare Road - Road is closed; Dominion Energy on-site
• Calthrop Point at the end of Calthrop Neck Road - Low hanging limb partially blocking the roadway and a wire down in the 1800 block of Calthrop Point
POWER OUTAGES - According to the Dominion Energy outage map, approximately 625 homes in York County are without power.
GENERATOR SAFETY - Never run a portable generator inside a home, garage, basement, crawl space, or shed. Keep units at least 20 feet away from open windows, doors, and vents with the exhaust pointed away from the home. Carbon monoxide gas is invisible, has no smell, and can be deadly. Install carbon monoxide detectors inside your home on every level.
DEBRIS MANAGEMENT – If you are clearing debris and there are nearby utility lines down, be sure to stay at least 30 to 35 feet away from them and from fences or trees touching wires. Never attempt to move branches on electrical equipment and immediately report downed lines to 9-1-1.
Residents with yard debris following yesterday’s storms are reminded that debris may be taken to the Compost Facility located at the Waste Management Center (145 Goodwin Neck Road). Residents can also call for a curbside pickup. All residents who subscribe to the York County curbside solid waste program may schedule two yard debris collections per month (approximately 24 cubic yards) at a rate of $25 per collection.
Materials delivered to the Compost Facility must ensure debris is no larger than 24” in diameter and 10’ in length. Curbside pickup requires materials are no larger than 8” in diameter and 10’ in length.

Always keep appliance doors closed. Discard perishable food like meat, dairy, and leftovers if it has been kept above 40°F for over 2 hours.
