While you are looking for lots of ways to enjoy the sunshine this summer, take advantage of the chance to visit our . Lucky Diaz and Micah Player's book Paletero Man is installed through August, and it's a vibrant story that you can read with your family as you stroll through the YJWC park. 🥰

As a bonus, stop by Little Free Libraries around town and you might find a FREE copy of Paletero Man waiting for you. (If it's already been taken, see if there's another gem to add to your summer reading stack at the LFL instead!)

🎓 YORKVILLE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL 6TH GRADE CLAP OUT 🎉

Help Us Celebrate Our 6th Graders!

6th Grade Families:

We invite you to celebrate our sixth graders as they dismiss YIS for the final time during our 6th Grade Clap Out!

📅 Friday, May 22
⏰ Approximately 3:20 PM
📍 Yorkville Intermediate School

Students will be cheered on by staff and 4th and 5th graders in the hallways before walking outside for their final sendoff from YIS.

Families Are Welcome!

Parents and family members are invited to line up outside along the front sidewalk from Door 2 near the gym down the front of the building to cheer on the 6th graders as they exit the building.

🚶 Walkers and car riders may be picked up as they walk down the front sidewalk.
🚌 Bus riders will continue walking around the east side of the building to buses.

Do you love graphic novels? Then GET READY because graphic novel author/illustrator James Burks is coming to Yorkville! You are invited to attend a special after-school event on Wednesday, May 13th at Yorkville Public Library. (The address for the YPL is 902 Game Farm Road in Yorkville.)

5:00pm - Our youngest readers & writers are invited to doodle with James and then jump into a scavenger hunt around the library, featuring the Box Tales books by James Burks! This time slot is recommended for our friends in PreK - 2nd grade. If you'd like to bring blankets to sit on during the draw-along, feel free!

6:00pm - Our more experienced graphic novel readers & writers are encouraged to join us during this time slot, as we get a bit more detailed with our drawings with James and then send students off for a graphic novel activity throughout the library. This time slot is recommended for our friends in grades 3 and up.

If you would like to purchase any books to be signed by James, you can bring cash to the event or order online using My School Bucks:

Book orders are due by May 6th, and after that we will sell what is available while supplies last.
