Reading Around Town SPOTLIGHT: Heidi Baird, Executive Director CASA Kendall County
CASA Kendall County stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. This vital organization recruits, trains, and supports dedicated community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system, ensuring their right to a safe and permanent home.
At the helm is Executive Director Heidi Baird. Heidi doesn't just passionately believe in CASA's mission—she lives it. Over the years, she and her husband have fostered 53 children! In fact, Heidi has a tattoo to represent each child they have welcomed into their lives—a beautiful symbol of the permanent imprint left on both her skin and her heart.
Heidi grew up in Limestone, IL - a small rural village that still doesn't have a single stoplight. While she has since relocated to a larger town, she still gets to enjoy the rural lifestyle on her family's "farmette." When they aren't busy making a profound difference in the community, Heidi and her husband enjoy life on the farm, fostering, and wearing matching colors.
Thank you, Heidi, for everything you do for Kendall County's children!
Book Recommendation: The German Wife by Kelly Rimmer
“I highly recommend The German Wife because it’s the kind of story that stays with you long after you finish it. The dual timelines create this slow unraveling of truth that keeps pulling you in. It’s impossible to read without reflecting on how ordinary people justify extraordinary things.”
Reading Around Town Spotlight features the many faces of Yorkville. We look forward to sharing the wonderful people in our community and their book recommendations.
