Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County

Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County The mission of this page is to point military veterans to an office that can assist them in obtaining the benefits that they have earned. The Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County is dedicated to the military concept of 'service over self.' The staff files VA paperwork for benefits such as service-connected disability compensation, pension, healthcare enrollment, and burial/death benefits to name a few.

The staff also has the ability to obtain a certified copy of the DD form 214 for veterans as well as medals and other military records. The VACKC invites all veterans, regardless of their county of residence, to contact the office and set up an appointment to discuss their benefits. One benefit, however, that does require residency in Kendall County is the financial assistance program. This is meant to give veterans a leg up if/when they have fallen on hard times. The VACKC has professional relationships with numerous other Kendall County departments, enabling it to help veterans in a multitude of situations or at least point them in the right direction.

Mission: The Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County (VACKC) is a non-profit 501(c)(19) organization. Our motto, โ€œService Over Selfโ€ highlights our teamโ€™s dedication to helping those who have served our country. We strive to better the lives of veterans and their families; as they have made the American way of life possible. Whether navigating an application for benefits, mourning the loss of someone close, or venting over coffee, we are committed to serving those who have so selflessly sacrificed for the things we enjoy.

*OPERATIONAL UPDATE* March 20, 2020

To help limit the spread of COVID-19 we will be taking the following steps effective immediately:

*The Kendall County Office is working remotely and actively. We are serving the veteran community via phone and internet and are doing our best to handle business as usual without contact. We will handle all necessary paperwork and make sure it still gets to the appropriate agencies. We will continue our high level of service, just by phone and email until further notice.

*Please do not walk-in to our office as traffic at the health department is at an all-time high. Anything we can do to minimize the impact in the building is a positive.

*This virus has had a disproportional impact on the elderly population around the world. Considering that more than 50% of our local veterans are age 65 or older, we want to take these measures out of an abundance of caution.

*Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

*Please contact us via e-mail as this is the preferred method of contact. This will yield a response in the quickest fashion. If you cannot e-mail, call our office at the following numbers to leave a message and we will return your calls as quickly as possible:

William Sutton 630-553-8355 [email protected]
Karylin Clevenger 630-553-8354 [email protected]
