Thank you to our wonderful MLK Jr Day of Service guest speaker, Dr. Vincent Gaddis and all our pop-up pantry volunteers! We packed 150+ dinners for our hungry neighbors in addition to tolietries and other food items donated! 💗

Those in need are welcome to pick up dinner kits from Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ during their office hours or their mini pantry out front. Thank you for hosting us!

🌸We just finished celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., a man who actually was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. His words and work motivate us to leave the warmth of our homes to protest the rampant racism and misogyny in our country. Please join us at Wilder Park on Saturday the 24th at 11:30. The flyer is below.

We are joining with three other Townships to sponsor a candidate forum for the four women running for Comptroller. It is an important election. The details are attached.

We hope to see you this morning at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service! This event brings neighbors together to serve others, share resources, and continue Dr. King’s mission of justice and equality through hands-on volunteerism.

The day will begin at 10:00 AM with guest speakers who will reflect on Dr. King’s vision and its relevance in today’s world.

At 11:00 AM, participants can engage in Community Resource Connect or a session on Dr. King's continued legacy and teachings. Community Resource Connect is an opportunity to learn about and connect with local organizations offering essential services and volunteer opportunities.

A community lunch will be served at 12:30 PM, providing time for fellowship and conversation among volunteers and attendees.

After lunch, from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM, volunteers will assist with pantry preparation, sorting and organizing donations for community distribution.

The day continues with a Pop-Up Pantry from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, where families and individuals can access meal kits and donated items. Staying for this portion is not required but any help is always appreciated.

Attendees are encouraged to donate full meal kit ingredients for volunteers to assemble either before or during the event to support the Pop-Up Pantry. This is not required but any help is always appreciated.

For families, child care will be available starting at 9:30 AM, allowing parents to fully participate in the day’s activities.

Come together in service and solidarity as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through action, community, and care.

Tonight, 1/14 is the zoning meeting for the Meyer property (for a proposed data center). The meeting starts at 7pm, and you are able to speak, and voice your concerns.
