Each year, on the Friday before Mother’s Day, we celebrate .

First recognized by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, this special day honors the contributions and sacrifices made by military spouses to keep our country safe. Today, we ask you to take pause and acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices made by spouses of the U.S. Armed Forces during mission, deployment, and reintegration. Their sacrifices are not forgotten and never taken for granted.

It was 235 years ago on July 25, 1788, that the Northwest Territory Militia was established. Since then, the Ohio National Guard has played a vital role in providing aid after natural disasters and defending the nation during major conflicts. Asked to do more in the past year than any in recent history, the Ohio Guard has been ready to answer the call to deploy at a moment’s notice with professionalism and a dedication that exceeded expectations.
