“He who sweats more in training bleeds less in war.”
OST Kent presents the station’s new logo! It shows a simple yet effective message. You’ll find a Spartan Helmet at the forefront, a Mameluke sword and scabbard bisecting it, and a an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on the helmet itself.
For those that know anything about the Spartans, it’s this; they were warriors. Some can argue whether or not they were the most talented at the time. However, what is indisputable amongst all historians, is that the Spartans were by far the most disciplined warriors during their time. Our candidates adopt the same mantra; you don’t have to have the natural, raw talent to succeed. Discipline is the one controllable thing that will put you above the completion.
The Mameluke Sword and Scabbard represents the sword carried by a Marine Officer. We can trace this tradition back to 1stLt Presley Obannon during the First Barbary War in 1805. It stands as a testament to our legacy as Marine Officers.
Lastly, the Marine Corps EGA, it is what our candidates so viciously desire and what we, as Marines, hold so close to our hearts in an attempt to continuously earn the title everyday.
Those that choose to take the incredibly rewarding journey of becoming a Marine Officer with this station will be able to wear this logo with pride.
Never let someone else outwork you. Your discipline is the one thing you can control.
