Thank you to the bill sponsors of a FOP of Ohio priority bill that passed the Ohio Senate today. Rep. Phil Plummer and Rep. Thomas Hall introduced HB 20 and it is now on its way to the Governor's office after passing the House and Senate.

The bill creates new circumstances for the offense of “obstructing official business” so that a person commits the offense if the person, without privilege to do so, and after receiving a
warning, knowingly approaches or remains within 15 feet of an emergency service responder engaged in the lawful performance of the responder’s legal duty and either impedes or interferes
with the responder’s ability to perform the responder’s legal duty or threatens the responder with physical harm.

The Mahoning Valley law enforcement community came together on Thursday, May 28, 2026, to honor the brave officers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Annual Fallen Officers Memorial at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.

The day began with a processional from Penguin City Brewing Company, led by the Blue Knights and Youngstown Police Motorcycle Unit, followed by a moving memorial ceremony featuring prayers, musical tributes, the Presentation of the Memorial Wreath, and the reading of the Last Roll Call.

Family members, fellow officers, elected officials, and community members gathered in remembrance of the heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting others. Their sacrifice and service will never be forgotten.
