Happy National Food Bank Day! Today, we’re celebrating food banks and the incredible communities that make it possible to put food on the tables of our neighbors who need a little extra help.

At Second Harvest Food Bank, we’re proud to work alongside our partner agencies, volunteers, donors and supporters to make sure good food reaches the people who need it most.

Whether you donate food, give financially, volunteer your time or simply help spread the word, you are part of the fight against hunger.

Thank you to everyone who helps us keep our shelves stocked and our community fed. Together, we can make a difference—one meal, one neighbor and one act of kindness at a time.

Back-to-school season is here!

As families get back into the school-year routine, we want to remind our neighbors that help is available if you or your family needs food.

Second Harvest Food Bank works with a network of 160 partner agencies and programs throughout the Mahoning Valley to help provide food to families, children and seniors. We also have school pantries in schools throughout our three-county service area, helping make sure students have access to nutritious food both at school and at home.

If your family could use a little extra help, you are not alone, and there is no shame in asking for help. Reach out to Second Harvest or visit one of our partner agencies to find food resources near you.

Because every child deserves to start the school year ready to learn—not worried about where their next meal will come from.

We're so excited! Can't wait to share all the details!

We just wrapped up a meeting of the minds at the Cliff College of Creative arts for an exciting new project that we can’t wait to publicly announce soon! The specific details are still being finalized, but we’re too excited to keep it a secret! For this year’s annual Holiday Concert of Giving benefit performance for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, we’re going to be trying something new and creative: instead of creating a typical concert poster, we are going to be holding a contest for everyone in grades 5-8 in the Mahoning and surrounding counties! There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd places with cash prizes awarded with winning entries publicly showcased, with first prize being featured on our program! The contest will be a joint endeavor with the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band, The Stambaugh Chorus and also the Cliffe College of Creative Arts at YSU, judged by a professional panel of art specialists from the art department.

**Note that we are still finalizing the details, and are not able to answer any specific questions at this time, but we will be making an official, public announcement very soon.

🎡 The Canfield Fair officially kicks off today! 🎡

If you’re heading to the fair, be sure to stop by and see us at the 21 WFMJ tent! We’ll be there every day throughout the fair collecting donations, spreading the word about hunger in our community and handing out some really fun giveaways.

Stop by, say hello and help us make a difference while you’re enjoying the fair!

Today kicks off Hunger Action Month! 💙

September is all about coming together to take action against hunger and find ways to give back to our neighbors throughout the entire month. And there are so many ways to get involved!

🥫 Host a food drive at work, school, church or with your friends and family.
💰 Make a monetary donation—every $1 can help us distribute 5 meals.
🤝 Volunteer your time with Second Harvest or one of our partner agencies.
📣 Help spread the word about hunger in our community and encourage others to get involved.
❤️ Simply find one small way each week to make a difference!

A HUGE thank you to last week’s group volunteers!

We’re so grateful to the amazing volunteers who came in to lend a hand at Second Harvest Food Bank last week!

- ViaQuest, Inc. ViaQuest packed 375 bags of potatoes and onions
- Men’s Bible Study packed an incredible 470 bags!

That’s 845 bags of fresh produce prepared to help our neighbors across the Mahoning Valley. We couldn’t do what we do without the time, energy and generosity of our volunteers. Thank you for helping us get food where it’s needed most!

Green beans, teamwork and a whole lot of good work!

A big thank you to the crew from The Anderson-DuBose Company for spending some time with us last week. Together, they packed 194 bags of green beans that will be heading out to our community!
