As part of America's 250th anniversary celebration, the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley is creating an America 250 Time Capsule—and we want YOU to be part of it.

The capsule will be sealed in July 2026 and reopened in July 2051, giving future generations a glimpse into life, faith, and community in the Mahoning Valley today.

We're inviting donors, volunteers, guests, staff, board members, and friends of the Mission to submit a short handwritten or typed note sharing:

A favorite memory from 2026
Hopes and prayers for the future
Reflections on family, faith, or community
Encouragement for future generations
Thoughts about the Rescue Mission and its impact

Your words will help tell the story of who we are and what matters most to us during this historic moment.

📅 Submission Deadline: July 22, 2026

Letters may be dropped off at the Mission, mailed to P.O. Box 298, Youngstown, OH 44501, or emailed to [email protected].

Printable stationery is available at www.rescuemissionmv.org/timecapsule, or you may use your own paper.

Send a message across time and become part of a lasting legacy that will connect today's Mahoning Valley with the community of 2051.

The amazing team at Boardman Grocery Outlet , led by owners Eric and (pictured with our CEO, John on the right), is once again taking the lead in the fight against hunger in our community through their annual Independence from Hunger campaign, benefiting the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

From June 24 through July 31, shoppers can donate $5 at checkout and receive a $5 coupon toward their next purchase of $25 or more.

Even better, 100% of the funds raised will be used by Grocery Outlet to purchase food items specifically needed by the Rescue Mission, helping ensure donations have the greatest possible impact.

Last year, Grocery Outlet customers raised more than $5,000 to help feed our neighbors in need. This year, they're aiming even higher with a goal of $10,000 and are inviting local businesses and community members to be part of the effort.

A huge thank you to Eric, Sarah, Wyatt, the Grocery Outlet team, and everyone who participates. Together, we can help provide a little more independence from hunger for our neighbors in need. ❤️

When Boardman Grocery Outlet donates drumsticks and thighs, and the weather is this beautiful, it's the perfect day to fire up the grill!

Because of God's provision through the generosity of our donors, our guests are blessed with delicious, nourishing meals every day. A special thank-you to Boardman Grocery Outlet for helping make today's lunch extra special for those experiencing hunger in our community.
