Update on Boardman Police Response to Boardman Park.

This evening, at 8:30 pm Boardman Township Police Dispatch recieved a call of a fight at Boardman Township Park. The caller also reported that someone at the park may have a gun. The first Boardman Police Officer arrived on scene at 8:34 pm, and advised that there was a large crowd of people gathering.

Based upon the nature of the call, Dispatch requested mutual aid from surrounding police departments. Several additional Boardman officers arrived on scene along with officers from surrounding agencies.

Responding officers determined that there was an argument, but no physical altercation and no firearm was present. No criminal activity had occurred and no arrests were made, with no injuries reported.

Boardman Township officials appreciate the quick response of area law enforcement and the cooperation of those in attendance. The safety of our residents and visitors remains our highest priority.

🚦🚧2026 Memorial Day Parade Road Closures ⚠️🛑

The following roads and intersections will be closed starting at 9:00am on 5/25/2026 and will remain closed until approximately 12:00pm

Market St. between Stadium Dr. and US 224.

US 224 from Market St. to Applewood Blvd.

The intersections of the Southern Park Mall, California Ave., Southern Blvd., Tanglewood Dr., and the Shops at Boardman Park will be closed during these times.

US 224 will still be open for westbound traffic from Market St. and Market St. will be open northbound from US 224.

Every year during the second week of April, the elecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are honored. This week-long event is a time to celebrate our Emergency Dispatchers and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. This is an extremely demanding profession and our Dispatchers are instrumental in ensuring our police officers, firefighters EMS personnel, and especially everyone in our community stays safe.

The eleven full time and five part time Dispatchers of the Boardman Township Police Department, as part of the Austintown – Boardman – Mahoning County Council of Governments, dispatches for eight police and fire agencies in Mahoning County.

Last week Boardman Township Police Officers Rich Romeo and Frank Innocenzi completed the five-day Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training put on by the Mahoning County Mental Health Board. The training helps officers learn strategies to better interact with people in crisis and work towards a safe outcome.
