Ohio Kids for Creativity Northeast Region

Ohio Kids for Creativity Northeast Region OKC Northeast Region is the sponsor of the Destination ImagiNation program in Northeast Ohio. Currently our primary program is Destination ImagiNation.

Northeast Region is a subsidiary of Ohio Kids for Creativity (OKC) an organization dedicated to assisting the parents and schools in teaching our kids techniques for creative thinking. Northeast Region Board

The Northeast Region Board is responsible for the operations of Northeast Region of OKC. Originally composed of Gifted Coordinators of the school districts in the Northeast Ohio county area,

as the School Districts have dropped Gifted programs, we are increasingly made up of parents who have kids in the program or had kids in the program, Team Managers, and past Team Managers. The Board meets as needed between August thru May either at a location to be announced or more commonly via Zoom. History
Prior to 01-Sept-2023 NE Region was OKC Regions 1, 15, 16, and parts of Regions 10 and 13. Prior to 2001-2002 season, Region 1 was part of OKC Region 15. But with over 150 teams at the 2001 Regional Tournament, it was decided to split Region 15 into 2 Regions and Region 1 was born.

Try it now.

Your students can memorize. What they need practice doing is figuring things out.

These 10 free STEAM activities put them in charge of real problems. No single right answer. No step-by-step instructions. Just a team, a challenge, and room to think.

You guide. They do the rest.

Interesting development.

Exciting news! 🎉

FIRST (the world's largest youth robotics community) and Destination Imagination are joining forces to expand STEAM learning for students everywhere.

Kids learn best when they can build, make, and explore. This alliance brings together robotics and creative problem-solving so more young people can develop the skills they'll use for life: teamwork, resilience, innovation, and creative confidence.

War couldn't stop them.

Ukrainian kids held regional tournaments in bomb shelters, traveled by train across a continent, and made it to Global Finals in Kansas City.

Jenn DeBarge Goonan captured why DI matters: it's not about the competition. It's about giving kids the freedom to create, solve problems their own way, and discover they're not alone.

Read her full story and learn three ways you can help more young people find a place where their ideas belong. 💙

What can students learn by creating a short film together? 🎬

In the Destination Imagination (DI) Team Film Challenge, students collaborate to turn an original idea into a finished short film while building skills in storytelling, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork through the DI Creative Process.

Over the course of 8 weeks, teams use everyday recording tools like phones, tablets, and cameras to bring their ideas to life. No special equipment is required.
