Green Youngstown - Litter Control will once again give away FREE leaf bags to Youngstown residents.
Bags will be available starting Friday, September 5th while supplies last.
All compostable leaf bags will be picked up by the Health Dept. Dept. starting Monday, November 4th through Friday December 6th.
Come to the office at 9 W. Front Street (old Post Office Building) - 2nd floor during office hours to get your free bags.

Youngstown Litter League first official season 2024, and registration is open! Opening Day for season one is June 1, and volunteers can join the lineup to help strike out litter in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Get ready for some friendly competition! Create or join a team to compete in one of four divisions: corporations/business, nonprofit/faith-based, community groups, and individuals. With up to 20 players per team, you can decide where to clean up. Need a location in mind? Green Youngstown can assist you in finding an area in need of a cleanup, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.

After each cleanup, teams will place their bags of litter for collection and report their stats for that day. One bag of litter equals one run, and the teams with the most runs at the end of the season will win their division.

The winner with the most runs will be invited to attend a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game at the end of the season, and the top litter collecting teams will be eligible for additional prizes and celebrity like public notoriety as we compete against the City of Columbus and Toledo.

With research indicating that people are less likely to litter in clean areas, this program could significantly reduce the problem. We can do so, however, the assistance from our community partners and volunteers is needed. This is the “City of You”, where YOU can make a difference and be a part of our city’s transformation. The Litter League season runs from June 1, 2024, through August 31, 2024.

The Youngstown City Health District and Green Youngstown would appreciate help from community partners to start up a new initiative focused on litter clean up, “The Youngstown Litter League.” This baseball themed program uses competition to motivate community members to strike out litter in the Youngstown area. Teams will consist of businesses, neighborhood groups, faith-based organizations, civic organizations, individuals, private clubs, and more.

There will be a $20 fee for all screens (LCD/LED/CRT). All other electronics and appliances are accepted for free.
This is such a fantastic opportunity to responsibly dispose of our electronics and appliances. Let's all make sure to take advantage of this and do our part for the environment!
