"defunding the police" is an ineffective or harmful approach to public safety for several key reasons. While the movement emerged to address police misconduct by reallocating budgets to social services, opponents emphasize that reducing law enforcement resources creates severe unintended consequences.

Impact on Crime and Public SafetyIncreased Response Times: Lower budgets lead to fewer officers on duty, creating significant delays when citizens call 911 during life-threatening situations.

Rise in Violent Crime: Historical data shows that sudden cuts to police personnel often correlate with spikes in gun violence, homicides, and other serious offenses.

Disproportionate Harm to Minorities: Wealthier neighborhoods frequently hire private security when public systems fail, leaving low-income and marginalized communities to bear the brunt of rising crime.

Staffing and Personnel CrisesRecruitment Shortages: The political rhetoric surrounding the movement has severely damaged law enforcement morale, discouraging high-quality candidates from entering the profession.

Officer Burnout: Understaffed departments rely heavily on forced overtime, which exhausts existing personnel and increases the likelihood of errors and use-of-force complaints.

Loss of Expertise: Budget reductions force early retirements and departmental downsizing, erasing decades of specialized investigative experience.

The Paradox of Police ReformUndermines De-escalation Training: Effective police reform requires more investment, not less. Cutting budgets slashes funding for essential training in de-escalation, mental health response, and implicit bias.

Prevents Modernization: Stripping funds stops departments from adopting body cameras, transparent data systems, and rigorous screening tools for new hires.

Unintended Economic ViolationsTaxation by Citation: When cities cut off traditional funding, some departments are forced to generate revenue by aggressively issuing fines and traffic tickets. This "citation taxation" creates a heavy financial burden that hits low-income residents the hardest.

The reason the Green Party fails to attract more of middle America is because our agenda items are far too left. Points such as “Social Justice & Equal Opportunity” is another term for socialism. “Non-Violence” is a non-military philosophy, which includes demilitarization. The Green Party supports a 100% nuclear-free country. “Decentralization” is referring to breaking up the role of government into local community groups and less power and income-earning ability for the wealthy. “Community-Based Economics” means they strongly support employee owned or co-owned business, such as co-ops, and also strongly support labor unions, even for smaller business.

On the scale of Liberal to Conservative, the current Green Party leans pretty far to the left, much farther than the Democratic Party and right next to the Peace and Freedom Party, but not quite as far as the Communist Party.

It's time for the Green Party to move to the center.

Today we celebrate Flag Day. It serves as a national day of unity to honor the Stars and Stripes as a living symbol of the country’s history, shared values, and the freedoms the nation represents.

Observing the holiday allows Americans to reflect on several key aspects of the nation's heritage:Historical Milestone: On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress officially passed a resolution stating that the flag of the United States would feature 13 alternating red and white stripes and 13 white stars on a blue field.Symbolism of the Design: The elements of the flag carry deep historical meaning. The 13 stripes represent the original colonies, while the 50 stars on the current flag represent the collective strength of the 50 individual states. The colors are also symbolic: red for valor, white for purity, and blue for justice
This day is an opportunity to express gratitude to military service members, veterans, and first responders who protect the ideals the flag stands for. It is a way to unite communities and welcome new immigrants with patriotic education.

Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed a disturbing rise of anti-American, socialist values taking over universities and public schools, hand in hand with a wave of anti-Israel and anti-America protests in the name of “Palestine.” This has fueled an explosion of antisemitism across the country, from the progressive Left of the Green Party and radical Muslim circles,

The radical left of the Green Party has partnered with Islamists who are growing in number and political power across America. This isn’t a conspiracy theory; it’s playing out in front of our eyes. Look at the glorification of Hamas and the vilification of Israel on American college campuses. Look at some members of Congress openly supporting terrorists under the guise of “liberation.”

The far left radicals of the Green Party It no longer stands for America. It stands for globalism, socialism, and identity-based revolution.

The Mahoning Valley Green Party supports Israel. We are moderate Greens who oppose the radical far left in our party who are trying to turn the party red.

The Mahoning Valley Green Party does not believe in celebrating May Day. We ignore May 1st as Labor Day, choosing September instead to avoid celebrating a holiday with deep ties to socialist, communist, and anarchist movements. especially following the 1886 Haymarket Affair. In the U.S., May Day is often viewed as a, "day of radical protests and riots" rather than a unifying national holiday for workers.

Opposing antisemitism is essential not only to ensure the safety and human rights of Jewish people but also to protect the health of democratic societies, uphold social cohesion, and prevent the escalation of violence. Antisemitism, often referred to as "the longest hatred," is a persistent, mutating form of prejudice that has existed for thousands of years and frequently leads to severe violence, including the Holocaust. We must oppose those socialists in the Green Party that support Hamas.

Christian Schneider: On Saturday, hundreds of thousands — perhaps millions — of Americans will pour into city streets. But will they accomplish anything?
