Happy Columbus Day!

We celebrate Columbus Day to honor Italian American heritage, recognize the spirit of human exploration, and mark the historical start of global interconnectedness.

we view the holiday as a symbol of cultural pride and a way to honor the contributions of Italian immigrants who faced widespread discrimination in the late 19th and 20th centuries.

we see Christopher Columbus’s 1492 voyage across the Atlantic as an emblem of human curiosity, courage, and the drive to discover the unknown.

This date commemorates the initial contact that launched the Columbian Exchange—the transfer of plants, animals, culture, and ideas between the Eastern and Western hemispheres.

The Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, targeted and killed roughly 1,163 people—including 859 civilians, women, children, and the elderly—and involved mass atrocities, sexual violence, and the abduction of around 250 hostages into Gaza. Under international law and humanitarian norms, the direct targeting, murder, and hostage-taking of civilians are classified as war crimes.

Hamas leaders reportedly intended the attack to trigger a wider regional collapse of Israel or force a permanent shift in the Palestinian cause. Instead, it resulted in severe military degradation of Hamas's operational capabilities, deep international condemnation, and increased regional volatility rather than achieving Palestinian statehood or liberation.

We continue to stand with and support Israel.

The economic platform of the US Green Party—which operates heavily on a framework of eco-socialism—calls for radical wealth redistribution. This includes ideas like a steeply progressive wealth tax on the top 5% of households, a 100% tax on "maximum income" (capping income at 10 times the minimum wage), a Universal Basic Income (UBI), and the socialization of key productive economic sectors.
This agenda is deeply flawed and won't work in practice for several reasons:

A major criticism of aggressive wealth redistribution is that capital is highly mobile.

Wealth Flight: Imposing an annual tax on net assets and a 100% cap on high incomes creates an extreme incentive for high earners, investors, and business founders to relocate their capital and citizenship to other nations.

Historical Failures: When European nations implemented wealth taxes in the late 20th century, most (including France and Sweden) eventually repealed them because they caused massive capital flight, cost more to administer than they brought in, and ultimately shrank the tax base.

Eco-socialism will do more harm than good. We must embrace Green Capitalism.

The US Green Party stance on taxing wealth is wrong. it is our lack of economic and financial credibility that features heavily in the on reasons not to vote Green in a general election. We are not going to win round those people, or others, by promoting policies that don’t work or where we demonstrate a lack of understanding of their ultimate financial or economic impact. We need to support Green Capitalism and forget this socialist policy of taxing the rich.

Pro Palestine protests on 9/11 were wrong. Public actions and protests overlapping with September 11 anniversaries—such as a demonstrator disrupting a game at Yankee Stadium was disrespectful.

Holding or staging demonstrations on September 11 is insensitive to the victims and families of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Incidents like storming sports fields with flags are disorderly and inappropriate for a day of national remembrance.

When individuals expressed anti-Western or pro-extremist views, they tarnish public safety and decorum.

We are sadden and oppose these disrespectful protests.

Far-left economic and social policies hurt the U.S. Green Party and the Ohio Green Party by narrowing its voter base, alienating working-class and moderate voters, and allowing mainstream Democrats to absorb core environmental issues, which leaves the party marginalized as a perennial protest vote rather than a broad coalition.

An insistence on strict far-left ideological conformity creates intense internal conflict and frequent splits over minor policy disagreements.

The party often attracts fringe elements or single-issue activists who resist the compromise necessary to build a sustainable, nationwide political machine.

Pushing radical or purely anti-capitalist policies drives away voters who want environmental protection within a market economy.

Adopting uncompromising far-left identity and cultural stances alienates conservative and rural communities who might otherwise support local conservation.

Many left-leaning voters who agree with Green ideals refuse to vote for the party because its broader platform is seen as unrealistic for governance.

While we believe abortion is a necessity in certain circumstances we oppose the Massachusetts Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act.

We do not support elective abortions up until birth.

We believe late term abortions are immoral.

We believe in supporting fetal rights. We believe laws need to be enacted to protect viable fully developed fetuses.

Green capitalism uses market forces, private profits, and technology to fix environmental problems. Green Capitalism is better than eco-socialism because it avoids sweeping state control, uses existing economic structures, and harnesses business innovation to create fast, scalable green solutions.

Price signals, taxes, and carbon offsets let the market find the cheapest and fastest ways to cut emissions.

Profit motives drive companies to invent better solar panels, batteries, and clean tech faster than state planners can.

It works inside current legal and economic systems instead of demanding a massive, difficult global revolution.

People can buy eco-friendly goods and reward green companies without losing personal freedoms.
