Mahoning County Children Services Children Services is the public agency responsible for providing child welfare and protective services. GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
1. We are child welfare leaders.

Mahoning County Children Services represents more than 100 years of compassionate service to children and families. MANDATED SERVICES: Many of the services the Agency provides are mandated by the Ohio Revised Code, including investigations, in-home protective services, foster care giving, adoption. FUNDING: Services are funded through a variety of local, state and federal sources. BOARD OF DIRECTO

RS: The Agency is overseen by the Children Services Board which is comprised of nine members who are appointed by the Mahoning County Commissioners. MAIN GOAL: The Agency's Main goal is to provide protective services and care for abused, neglected and dependent children. The Agency works collaboratively with other systems--social services, medical and judicial with the goal of reunification of children with their families when safety and permanency can be achieved. The Agency also coordinates a broad range of additional programs and social services to Mahoning County residents including but not limited to: case management; protective services; information and referral, service planning, homemaker services; parent education; crisis services; therapeutic foster care; emergency shelter; kinship care, adoption; post-adoption services; life skills/independent living; and substitute care. We take pride in working with families and our community with care and compassion.
3. We provide quality services that respect each family’s culture.
4. We are fiscally responsible, effectively utilizing resources to benefit the families we serve.
5. We educate the community on recognizing and preventing child abuse and neglect.
