City of Youngsville Louisiana

City of Youngsville Louisiana www.youngsville.us Youngsville came to be in the early 1800's. A small group of French Acadian farmers figured it would be a good place to settle and raise their crops and families.

They figured right. By 1863, the settlement had grown large enough to attain the lofty status of 'village'. In 1983, the village of Youngsville was declared a town and by 1990, the secret was out. In 2005, Youngsville was the state's fastest growing 'town.' It was then that Youngsville was elevated to the rank of 'city' and has, ever since, been the fastest growing municipality in that category as well.

SLEMCO

SLEMCOโ€™s system has sustained catastrophic damage from Hurricane Delta. We currently have over 98% of our system without power. Crews started working at 1 am this morning. Fallen trees and debris are making passage very difficult and slow at this point. But they are making progress. The first feeder was restored at 5:03 am.

Work continues on our SmartHub and Outage Management Systems. Outages can be reported by calling 1-888-275-3626. Getting through will be challenging with so many customers trying to get through. Repairing those systems, along with restoring power to our feeders will be our primary focus today.

We pray that our members have not suffered devastating damage to their homes and businesses. Many of you likely have. We will get through this together. From the damage weโ€™ve seen out there so far, it will be a slow process.

Important news from SLEMCO:

Well, we have some good news and some not so good news. The good news is, all of our crews will be moving out at daybreak to survey damage, check transmission lines and restore power to substation feeders. Thatโ€™s step one after every hurricane. The not so good news is that the servers that run our SmartHub system and outage system were damaged during the storm. That means the only way to get through to us for the next few hours is by calling us. And, with over 80,000 customers out of power, it will be difficult to get through for awhile. But, please call 1-888-275-3626 to report your outage. It will take awhile to get through, but thatโ€™s okay. We know which feeders are out and that is what we have to work on first. As always we appreciate your patience. Remember to treat all downed power lines as energized.

We are prepared to mobilize a storm team of up to 10,000 employees and contractors to respond to any impacts from #HurricaneDelta. We will continue to monitor Delta and will adjust the size of the storm team based on the stormโ€™s size, path and intensity.

From SLEMCO:

Like it or not, Delta is, as we say in these parts, "making a pass" today. Our field crews are locked, loaded and ready to go. So are hundreds more men who have arrived to work with us. They will restore power until winds exceed about 35 mph then will head-in for safety reasons. Once the winds die down after the storm, we'll get working when winds die down to about 30-35 mph and we won't stop until everyone who can accept power, has power. Special Note: After Laura, lots of folks tried to report outages on our FB page and through Messenger. Neither of them are linked to our dispatchers or outage reporting system. The ONLY way to report outages is by calling 1-888-275-3626 or logging into SmartHub. We realize its frustrating when you can't get through at first, but please continue to call until you get through. Thanks for your patience and stay safe!! Treat all downed power lines as energized and stay away!

Youngsville, LA where life is sweeter!

Youngsville came to be in the early 1800's. A small group of French Acadian farmers figured it would be a good place to settle and raise their crops and families. They figured right. By 1863, the settlement had grown large enough to attain the lofty status of 'village'. In 1983, the village of Youngsville was declared a town and by 1990, the secret was out. In 2005, Youngsville was the state's fastest growing 'town.' It was then that Youngsville was elevated to the rank of 'city' and has become known as the fastest and smartest growing municipality in the state of Louisiana.

Youngsville is home of the Youngsville Sports Complex, a state of the art parks and recreational facility hosting its own youth sports programs and community events held year round and sees nearly 500,000 players, coaches and visitors annually. With top rated schools, great places to eat and and a variety of places to shop, Youngsville has quickly become known as the perfect place to live, work, raise a family and even retire. Come visit us in Youngsville and see why life is truly sweeter! For more info, visit www.Youngsville.us.
