📚🚌 Back to School Safety Reminder 🚒🍎

As students head back to school, the Milton Fire Department would like to remind everyone to help keep our children safe during the busy school season.

🚸 Drivers:
• Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
• Stop for school buses when their stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.
• Stay alert for children crossing streets, walking along roadways, or riding bicycles.
• Eliminate distractions—put your phone down and keep your eyes on the road.

🚶 Parents & Students:
• Use designated crosswalks whenever possible.
• Look left, right, and left again before crossing the street.
• Wear bright or reflective clothing if walking or biking early in the morning.
• Make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of vehicles.
• Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding a bicycle.

🚌 School Bus Safety:
• Stay at least 10 feet away from the bus while waiting.
• Cross in front of the bus only after the driver signals that it’s safe.
• Never walk behind a school bus.

Let’s all do our part to make this school year a safe one for every student, teacher, and family in our community.

As we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, let’s make this Independence Day one to remember for all the right reasons.

Whether you’re enjoying fireworks with family, grilling with friends, or watching a community display, please put safety first. Always use fireworks responsibly, keep a bucket of water or hose nearby, supervise children at all times, and remember to keep used fireworks soaked until they are completely cooled and soaked before throwing them away.

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT & PREPAREDNESS REMINDER ⚠️

The Milton Fire Department is closely monitoring the weather system expected to move through our area over the coming days. Forecasts indicate the potential for heavy rainfall, strong winds, lightning, and localized flooding. Now is the time to prepare before conditions deteriorate.

✅ Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, and loose items around your home.
✅ Ensure flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies are readily available.
✅ Charge cell phones, portable chargers, and other essential electronics.
✅ Avoid driving through flooded roadways. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and emergency notifications.
✅ Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those who may need assistance.

If flooding occurs, move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through standing water. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.

Our members are prepared and ready to respond should emergency situations arise. We encourage everyone to stay weather aware, monitor trusted weather sources, and take precautions to keep your family safe.

🚑 National EMS Week 2026 🚑

This week, we proudly recognize and thank the dedicated men and women who serve in Emergency Medical Services — from EMRs, EMTs, Advanced EMTs, and Paramedics to every provider who answers the call when someone is in need.

EMS professionals are often the first calm voice, the first helping hand, and the first step toward lifesaving care. Their commitment, skill, compassion, and courage make a difference every single day in communities across the world.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the members of our department who serve in EMS and provide care to our citizens with professionalism and dedication. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.

This National Police Week, and on National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women of law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

We remember the officers who gave their lives protecting others, and we stand with their families, departments, and fellow officers who continue to carry their legacy forward.
