• College credit partnerships with Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology (MIAT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Construction Technology, Auto Technolog

y, Auto Collision, and Culinary Arts that allows high school students to earn free college credits or career credentials
• An International Baccalaureate (IB) middle school academy joins the existing IB candidate high school, Washtenaw International High School (WIHI)
• Middle and high schools have Small Learning Communities (SLC); a school within a school model. Each SLC will offer different themes, e.g. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Performing Arts, New Tech, International Baccalaureate (IB)
• Check out our strong athletic program and after-school enrichment clubs that line up with educational goals of the district
• We offer project-based learning from elementary level through high school

🚒🏀 Thank you to the Ypsilanti City Fire and Rescue team for spending time with our scholars at the end of the year!

Scholars had the opportunity to explore fire trucks, learn important fire safety tips, meet local firefighters, and even shoot a few hoops together. Experiences like these help bring learning to life while strengthening connections between our schools and community partners.

🎪✨ Cirque Amongus was an unforgettable way to wrap up the school year at YCS!

Our scholars had the opportunity to experience the excitement, wonder, and magic of a real circus right in their own schools. From amazing performances to once-in-a-lifetime experiences, the event brought smiles, laughter, and memories that will last for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Cirque Amongus such a special celebration for our scholars. What a fantastic way to kick off summer!

🎾☀️ Looking for a fun way to stay active this summer?

Blue Sky Tennis is offering FREE and low-cost summer tennis opportunities for YCS scholars of all ages at Ypsilanti Community High School. From beginner programs for younger children to middle school team tennis and high school practice groups, there’s something for every skill level.

All equipment is provided, and families experiencing financial hardship can register using the free option. Sessions begin in mid-June and run throughout the summer.

We're proud to share that four Ypsilanti Community Schools leaders have been selected to serve as founding members of the Bett Builders community, helping shape the future of Bett USA before its inaugural event in Nashville in 2027.

As part of this national network of K-12 leaders, they will collaborate with educators from across the country to help design learning experiences focused on innovation, meaningful connections, and practical solutions that support schools and scholars.
