Citizens Against Prohibition

Citizens Against Prohibition C.A.P is a group based on the belief that prohibition has failed our country and the world.

It fails by treating addicts as criminals, causing crime, and wasting billions of dollars fighting drug production and use. Ways Prohibition/ The War on Drugs has failed:

- It has done little if anything to curb demand for illicit substances

- 75 to 80 percent of crime annually is related to drugs

- Treats addicts and users as criminals for non violent offenses crowding prisons

- Our syste

m currently puts the focus on locking up users instead of rehabilitating users

- Legal substance like to***co and alcohol are more dangerous than several illegal substances

- Allows dealers to choose the age of use

-Makes ma*****na a gateway drug due to exposure to other harmful drugs in the illegal market

- Impure forms of drugs (due to cutting) are used, this greatly increases the harm and risk of death with use

- In illegal markets profit margins for dealers are so great that in many poorer nations cartels and drug lords often have as much, if not more power than the government causing horrific civil war and unrest

- With cartels and drug lords having this much power it leaves the people of these countries very impoverished and oppressed.

- Farmers that grow legal plants in regions that drugs are grown are at great risk of losing harvests due to crops being sprayed to kill illegal substances. While it does kill illegal substances, it also kills all crop in area the including legal plants.
