On 8/25/2026, at approximately 6:44 pm, the Ypsilanti Police Department responded to a call about a Possible Stabbing in the 200 Blk of N. Washington.

Once on scene, Officers located a male driver occupant of a vehicle covered in blood. Officers also located a male passenger subject who appeared to have several stab wounds to his body and was also covered in blood.

Medical personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed shortly after that the male passenger was deceased.

The Ypsilanti Police Department does not believe this incident to be a random occurrence.

The male driver was treated at the local area hospital and later lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail.

This is an open investigation, so we have no further comment at this time.

Double Trash Week is back! Read carefully to make sure you can take advantage 😎

From Monday, August 24 to Thursday, August 27, residents can set out their regular trash bin, plus up to two bulk items and up to three extra 33-gallon trash bags on their normal pick up day.

Please remember to place any additional trash at least 2-4 feet away from your regular bin, and trash should never be placed on the street.

There will be no bulk item pickup on Friday, August 28, as bulk items will be collected on your regular trash day.

Harriet Street is coming back together! Here are some updates to keep in mind 🚧

Perry Avenue will be closed at Harriet Street through August 29. Construction has shifted on Harriet Street to now allow westbound traffic only (from Hamilton westbound towards Hawkins). Drivers should continue utilizing the posted detours.

Drivers will continue to be able to access Perry Ave through Monroe Street. The intersection will reopen in time for the first day of school at Perry Early Learning Center on August 31 🏫

Those attending Parkridge SummerFest on August 22 should plan their routes accordingly. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
