🎒✏️ Getting Ready for a Great School Year at Sauk Trail Pointe!

We recently hosted a Backpack Giveaway at Sauk Trail Pointe to help our students get ready for the new school year! Families were able to receive backpacks filled with school supplies, while kids also had the opportunity to get fresh haircuts and enjoy a fun day with their community.

A special thank you to our friends at Real Barber Shop for providing haircuts for our young residents and helping them head into the school year looking and feeling their best! 💈✂️

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting our YHC Board Meet & Greet at New Parkridge!

This event gave residents an opportunity to meet members of the YHC Board of Commissioners, ask questions, share their thoughts, and learn more about the role the Board plays in supporting our communities. Residents also had the chance to connect with members of our Family Empowerment Program (FEP) team and property management team.

It was a great evening filled with community, conversation, food, fun, and connection. Events like this help strengthen relationships between residents and the teams that serve them while creating more opportunities for residents to have their voices heard.

We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that bring our residents and leadership together to help build stronger YHC communities!

A huge thank you once again to Washtenaw Camp Placement for generously sponsoring 10 YHC youth to attend the Parkridge Summer Camp this year!

Because of their support, our youth had the opportunity to enjoy a fun and enriching summer filled with new experiences, activities, learning, and opportunities to build friendships and create lasting memories.

We are incredibly grateful for partners like Washtenaw Camp Placement who invest in our young people and help provide experiences that expose them to new opportunities and possibilities.

Thank you for helping make this summer special for our YHC youth! ☀️🌟

🎒✏️ Getting Ready for a Great School Year at New Parkridge!

We recently hosted a Backpack Giveaway for New Parkridge to help our students get ready for the new school year. Families were able to receive backpacks filled with school supplies, while kids also had the opportunity to get fresh haircuts and have their hair braided.

A special thank you to our friends Engage at EMU for donating the backpacks and school supplies for our students. We also want to thank our Family Empowerment Program team and our Property Management team for their support in helping make the event possible.

From the barbers and beauticians who helped our kids look and feel their best, to those who prepared and served the food, we truly appreciate all of our partners and volunteers who gave their time, talents, and support to make the day special for our New Parkridge families.

It was wonderful seeing so many of our young residents leave with new school supplies, fresh hairstyles, and big smiles. We’re wishing all of our students a safe, successful, and exciting school year ahead! 📚✨

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting our National Night Out event! It was a wonderful day of community, connection, and fun as residents and community members came together to learn about local resources and build positive relationships with our local law enforcement and public safety partners.

Thanks to our friends at Rutherford Pool, families were also able to enjoy a beautiful day at the pool while connecting with neighbors, community organizations, and local service providers.

We would like to thank all of the organizations that joined us and helped make the event meaningful: City of Ypsilanti - Police Department, Washtenaw Sheriff, City of Ypsilanti, MI Government City of Ypsilanti Professional Firefighters Local 401, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, Home of New Vision, Michigan Works Southeast, Equity In Washtenaw, Supreme Felons Inc., Rep. Debbie Dingell, Survivors Speak, Prep and Me, Telling it Youth Program

Thank you to everyone who came out, shared resources, connected with our community, and helped make National Night Out a success. We are grateful for every organization, family, and community member who spent the day with us!

This past weekend, the Family Empowerment Program recently partnered with Survivors Speak to host a Get Out the Vote event for YHC residents.

Residents had the opportunity to learn more about the voting process, including how to register to vote, find their polling location, explore early voting options, locate ballot drop boxes, research candidates, and more.

It was a great opportunity to make voting information more accessible, answer questions, and help residents feel informed and prepared ahead of the election.

A special thank you to FEP and Survivors Speak for bringing this important resource directly to our community, and thank you to everyone who stopped by and participated!

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Washtenaw Camp Placement for sponsoring 10 Ypsilanti Housing Commission youth to attend the Parkridge STEM Summer Learning Experience this summer!

Because of their generosity, our youth will have the opportunity to participate in five weeks of hands-on STEM learning, academic enrichment, water safety training, skill-building activities, and exciting field trips throughout the summer.

This camp provides more than just summer fun. It creates opportunities for our youth to explore new interests, build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and experience learning in a fun and meaningful way.

Thank you to Washtenaw Camp Placement for investing in our young people and helping make this summer experience possible for YHC families!

Campers will also receive free water safety training and skills provided by Rutherford Pool. On Fridays, we have "Field Trip Fridays." This year’s field trips will take place at Snapology - Toledo West, Cinemark Theaters, Rolling Hills Park, the Michigan Science Center, and the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor.

We are also pleased to collaborate with the Washtenaw Intermediate School District's Bridge Team and Restoration Outreach Ministries. They will provide positive social-emotional techniques and support to help our campers become high-achieving scholars during summer camp and beyond.

Thank you to our partners at Ypsilanti Community Schools, the Ypsilanti Housing Commission, Washtenaw Camp Placement, and the Jamil Thomas, Sr. Golf Outing for their ongoing support in providing a quality summer experience for our youth through scholarships for students to attend.
