We are proud to announce our enthusiastic endorsement of Jimmie Wilson Jr. for State Representative, House District 32.

State Representative Jimmie Wilson Jr. is a lifelong resident of Ypsilanti. He graduated from Belleville High in 2001, then attended the Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology, where he obtained his airplane mechanic certification. He transitioned out of aviation into renewable energy working for Siemens Energy, building wind turbines. Jimmie hired in at Ford Motor Company (Rawsonville) in 2012. He quickly got involved at UAW Local 898 and was elected Trustee in 2014. He won re-election in 2017 and 2020. Jimmie became a journeyman electrician in 2025.

In 2016, Jimmie decided to take on a bigger role in the community and ran for public office. He was elected to the Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustees and won re-election in 2020. He was elected to serve in the State Legislature in 2022, and won re-election in 2024.

Jimmie strives to be more than just another Democratic vote, but also a voice that ensures that policies and legislation in Lansing reflect the needs and hopes of his district. He is a strong voice for the worker, and working class families. Jimmie is more than willing to work across the aisle, but also holds firmly to his principles, even if that means challenging the status quo.

We wholeheartedly endorse Jimmie Wilson Jr. for State Representative, House District 32 (HD 32), and we encourage all residents of HD 32 to mobilize and support his campaign.

Thank you to Leah Chapman for coordinating this meeting about the proposed data center in Ypsilanti, and for inviting me along with others to this important community conversation. I was inspired by everyone's passion and commitment, and will continue to do what I can to support you and amplify your voices.

You may have heard that UM/Los Alamos just informed the Township that they completed the purchase of land near the Huron River. This means that even if the University and the Department of War choose to build elsewhere or not at all, they will still own this land. Their intent to pursue research and development on nuclear and other Department of War projects here in Ypsilanti despite the risk, without consent, and without concern for community well-being or benefit seems clear.
