MOUNT SHASTA, CA- On August 10, 2026, a Mt. Shasta Police Department Officer observed a physical altercation between a male and female at a bus stop near the Ray’s Shopping Center. The officer immediately responded and discovered that the male subject, identified as Charles Edward Lambertsen III, was attempting to sexually assault the female victim. The officer immediately placed Lambertsen into custody.

During, the course of the investigation it was found that Lambertsen had been arrested the previous evening for indecent exposure in Mt. Shasta and had been booked into the Siskiyou County Jail. Based upon the behavior of Lambertsen, it is possible that there may be other victims of his that have not reported the conduct to law enforcement. The Mt. Shasta Police Department is asking anyone who may have been contacted by or may have been a victim of Lambertsen to please reach out to us.

Charles Edward Lambertsen was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail for the following offenses:

243.4(a) PC- Felony Sexual Battery
236 PC - Felony False Imprisonment

UPDATE: 8/10/2026: Ms. Hammon was tragically located deceased on 8/10/2026. See press release for additional information.

ORIGINAL POST:
Joyce Hammon was last seen on 08/06/2026 with the intention of driving to Gold Hill Oregon to purchase peaches and take them to her mother’s residence. Hammon was driving a 2017 Ford Edge, silver in color.

Hammon was suspected to be driving to Gold Hill via Greyback Road to Highway 199, then over to I-5. Hammon was also seen driving her vehicle in the Happy Camp area on 08/06/2026 around 2:19 PM. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is looking for any information regarding the possible location of Hammon.

-MISSING PERSON ALERT-
James “Roger” Carol was last seen on 7/13/2026 with intentions of hiking in the Russian Wilderness around the Duck Lakes (Big and Little) and to High Lake.

Carol had planned on coming out of the wilderness on Saturday 7/18/2026. He is believed to have departed Duck Lakes en route to High Lake on 7/14/206 but no one has seen or heard from him. Carol’s vehicle was located at the Duck Lake Trailhead by the SCSO.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively conducting Search and Rescue operations in the vicinity to locate Carol. If you have any information regarding the possible location of Carol, please contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office through our 24-hour Dispatch Center (530) 841-2900.
