Hard to think about stocking up on firewood when it's been so hot but now is definitely the time to get on our schedule for deliveries. Please understand that we now ask for a monetary donation which helps with fuel, insurance and supplies from those within a certain income bracket--your donation keeps our program running! We still deliver FREE firewood to our disabled Veterans and those who can't afford to pay. Please reach out to us via Messenger or call Jennifer at 530 917-9478 to schedule or for any questions. It may be June but it's Fair time! The Veteran's Assistance Program has our booth set up near the main grandstand entrance with raffle tickets for sale. Grand prize is a $1,000 gift card, good at any Solano's location! Second prize is a trailer load of firewood (approx. 1.5 cords) split and delivered! This raffle is our main source of funds for our program so please stop on by--buy some tickets, say hi to our volunteers and get information about our nominal fee/FREE firewood program for Siskiyou County Veterans. This year we will also have raffle tickets for a gorgeous bell, handmade and donated by one of our volunteers (thank you Richard!). The proceeds from the bell raffle will go directly into our "fuel fund", allowing us to keep making deliveries to all corners of Siskiyou County. The weather should be great and we sure hope to see you! 😁

Great news! The VAP is pleased to announce that our prayers for a donated pickup to our program have been answered!! Thanks to the efforts from Shawn Williamson of the Siskiyou County Veteran's Office, Siskiyou County Supervisor Jess Harris and our main volunteers Richard and Jerry, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors approved the donation of a surplus 1997 F350 4x4 with a dump bed to our Firewood for Veterans program! With a few minor modifications, we will be on the road making deliveries sooner than later! Thank you to all involved!!

Happy Spring! Although we've been quiet on social media, we've been non-stop busy procuring, splitting and delivering firewood to the Veterans in our program. We did deal with a discouraging situation, finding out some clients were taking advantage and reselling or distributing the free firewood meant for their immediate household, but that has been dealt with. There were also questions about the income letters sent out; basically, we are asking for a donation that helps with fuel, insurance and supplies from those within a certain income bracket. We still deliver FREE firewood to our disabled Veterans and those who can't afford to pay. Please call Jennifer at (530) 917-9478 if you have any questions.
