Firefighter Nathan Miller
📅 Years of Service: 2 ½ years with Yuba City Fire Department, 6 ½ years total in the fire service
🔥 What do you enjoy most about being a firefighter?
"I enjoy responding to all types of incidents where we can make a difference, but there is nothing better than being part of a well-run fire incident where what we train for the most is applied in real time."
👨🚒 Can you share a memorable moment or experience during your service?
"This past April, I was lucky enough to attend FDIC in Indianapolis, where I was able to learn from, train with, and meet some of the biggest names in the fire service alongside firefighters from all over the world."
🧠 How do you stay motivated and maintain your physical and mental health?
"This job demands a lot physically and mentally, and I still have 30 years left to give. There are a lot of things we can’t control in this job, but being physically fit is one we can control, and the public expects the best when we show up. Working out is also a boost for my mental health, along with having good people to talk to and the power of prayer."
⛰️ What do you enjoy doing in your free time or any hobbies?
"In my free time, I enjoy golfing, fishing, and looking for the next adventure with my beautiful wife and 1, soon to be 2, son."
💙 What does serving the community mean to you?
"Serving the community I was born and raised in is something I will never take for granted, and I thank God every day for allowing me these opportunities."
🙌 Any shoutouts or special mentions?
"I owe everything to my family for always having my back and supporting me through every high and every low."
