USDA announced this week that the first case of New World screwworm has been reported in the United States.

“We encourage farmers, ranchers and pet owners to familiarize themselves with the signs of NWS and notify a veterinarian if infection is suspected. It is important to be clear about the fact that this re-emergence does not threaten the safety of our food supply. The next Sutter County Pesticide Container Recycling event is coming up on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Recycling Industries located at 140 Epley Drive in Yuba City from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Take advantage of this program from the Sutter County Agricultural Commissioner's Office to safely dispose of your ag containers!

Welcome, Leslie!

The Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau is pleased to introduce our new Program Coordinator Leslie Williams. Leslie is a lifelong resident of the Yuba-Sutter area. She recently retired from a 27-year career in local law enforcement as an Analyst and Public Information Officer and is returning to her roots in agriculture with the Farm Bureau. “I grew up with a passion for our region’s agriculture which developed through my involvement with 4-H and FFA in my youth” said Leslie, “and although my career took another path for many years, I never lost sight of my love for this industry and I am thrilled to be able to step into this new role as I begin my next chapter”.

Leslie will be leading the efforts behind event coordination and outreach for the Farm Bureau, such as the Yuba-Sutter Fair AgVentures, the popular Farm Day program for area 3rd graders, Spray Safe training, and the annual Spring Fling fundraiser for Ag Education, just to name a few. She plans to use her prior experience in media and public relations to further promote the Farm Bureau and the many services and benefits it provides to its membership and the community.
Leslie and her husband call Loma Rica home, where she enjoys riding her horses and tending to her hobby farm.

Happy first day of JUNE! You know what that means Yuba-Sutter... It's FAIR month! 🎡🎢In addition to our AgVentures exhibits in Palmer Hall, we are once again sponsoring the AgTrivia Quiz Bowl for the Ag Youth on Tuesday, June 23rd, immediately following the Exhibitors Meeting in the show ring. 🚜🤠

We are looking 👀at YOU 4-H and FFA members! The time is now to strategize your teams and be ready-to-rumble and flex your agriculture knowledge muscles! 💪 We will have two divisions - Juniors for ages 13 and under and Seniors for ages 14 and over, with teams consisting of up to 5 players. We will have great prizes up for grabs in addition to bragging rights! 📣😎
