Happy National School Lunch Hero Day! We would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the school nutrition professionals at YCUSD. Through their extraordinary commitment and hard work, they ensure our students have access to a nourishing, healthy school breakfast and lunch each instructional day. School nutrition professionals are at the forefront of increasing scratch cooking, incorporating fresh, locally sourced ingredients into school meals, reducing reliance on ultra‑processed foods of concern, and ensuring students have access to flavorful, nutritious, and culturally inspired meals. 🍎👩‍🍳

We also want to think our school community for their continued support of our school nutrition programs and the many professionals nourishing our students each and every school day. These heroes are vital to wellness and health of children. Their leadership in expanding scratch cooking, elevating meal quality, and strengthening student well-being contributes not only to the student’s success but to the school as a whole– reducing chronic absenteeism, improving academic achievement, and fostering positive school climates. By uplifting our School Lunch Heroes, we honor the essential work they do each school day to ensure every student is nourished, supported, and ready to learn.
