Today, we join millions around the world in remembering the incomparable Dolly Parton, an icon whose legacy reaches far beyond music.

For us, her greatest legacy will always be Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. What began in 1995 as a tribute to her father, who could not read or write, grew into a worldwide movement that has placed millions of free books into the hands and homes of young children.

We are incredibly proud to help carry on Dolly’s vision here in Sutter County—giving our youngest children the opportunity to experience the joy of books, strengthen their love of learning, and dream big. 📖✨

Thank you, Dolly, for showing the world just how much one little book can inspire a child. Your legacy will live on with every book delivered and every story shared. 💗📚

🎉 Congrats to Erik for being successfully housed! 🏠

Erik came into Better Way shelter as a justice-involved referral through Sutter County Probation Department and worked tirelessly alongside shelter staff and community partners to achieve his goals of securing stable housing, employment, and greater self-sufficiency. Throughout his time at Better Way, Erik remained committed to his goals and successfully completed Recovery Court, making an important accomplishment in his journey.

Erik was also connected with Sutter County One Stop, where he received employment assistance and successfully secured employment. Through his determination, perseverance, and willingness to utilize the support and resources available to him, Erik ultimately achieved both stable housing and employment.

Erik was truly a pleasure to have at shelter. His hard work, perseverance, and success serve as a shining example of what can be achieved through determination and support. 🎉

This week, the Sutter County Board of Supervisors presented a proclamation to members of our Health and Human Services team recognizing August 2026 as National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.

This year’s theme, “RISE: Resilience, Interdependence, Self-Determination, Empowerment,” highlights the importance of breastfeeding support and access to trusted resources for families.

Thank you to our Sutter County Health and Human Services team, the Tri-Counties Breastfeeding Alliance, and local partners who help provide education, resources and support to families throughout our community.
