Yuba Sutter Sheriff's Aero Squadron

Yuba Sutter Sheriff's Aero Squadron (YSSAS) is a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to providing aerial support to Yuba and Sutter County Sheriff's Office activities.

Consisting mainly of private pilots, who bring a wide variety of aircraft and flying experience to the squadron.

It was a great celebration honoring Fred Young with the FAA’s prestigious Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award at the Beale Aero Club Safety Meeting on Saturday. As a long-standing volunteer with the Yuba Sutter Sheriff’s Aero Squadron and a life-long aviation mentor and pilot, with 50 plus years of experience, Fred has accumulated over 28,000 hrs. of helicopter time and over 31,000 hrs. in total aviation time before he simply stopped counting. His contributions to his family, country, community and friends are nothing short of extraordinary. The Yuba Sutter Sheriff’s Aero Squadron was excited to help celebrate this amazing award to this amazing man and his family.
Congratulations Fred, you certainly are a Master Pilot and a true representative of our squadron and our community.

Thank you all that participated in the 3rd Annual WHEN PIG’S FLY event on Saturday night. Thankfully the winds took a bit of a break long enough for the event to take place. Great food by Silver Sage Catering, prizes and music, by Jimmy and The Jets, all made for a fun time.

The Yuba-Sutter Sheriff's Aero Squadron provides a team of volunteer aviators whose primary mission is to assist our Yuba and Sutter County Sheriff’s. Whether it be providing aerial services for tactical operations, conducting search and rescue missions for missing persons or equipment or investigating hard to reach locations, the Aero Squadron provides the men and women of the Yuba/Sutter Sheriff’s Department a valuable resource in the sky when they need it.

We had an incredible evening last night! Thank you to everyone who come out to the Yuba County Airport to support us! Whether you were a sponsor, an attendee, a volunteer, we are grateful for you!!
