Sutter-Yuba Mosquito and Vector Control District The goal of the District is the detection and control of mosquitoes in order to suppress their population and prevent mosquito-borne disease transmission.

The District office and yard is located at 701 Bogue Road, Yuba City, CA. We currently have a staff of 12 permanent employees and annually hire 12 - 16 seasonal or summer employees. All of our management and permanent staff maintain certification issued by the California Department of Health Services in mosquito and vector control. District staff operates and maintains a fleet of surveillance and

specialty vehicles used for the surveillance and treatment of mosquitoes and mosquito sources. The District is a member of the Mosquito and Vector Control Association and works in cooperation with such agencies and institutions as: other California Mosquito Abatement and Mosquito and Vector Control Districts; the local Health Departments; County Agricultural Commissioner offices; the University of California labs and research departments and the California Department of Health Services. We are also part of the Sutter and Yuba County Africanized Honeybee Task Force which is preparing to deal with the problems this bee will cause if it arrives in our area. The primary goal of the District is to conduct field surveillance to facilitate the detection and control of mosquitoes in order to suppress their populations and prevent the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases. We also provide consultation and assistance for other vectors of public health importance such as; flies, fleas, ticks, and their associated diseases as resources allow.

REMINDER
Town fogging will continue on Tuesday mornings in areas of Yuba City, Live Oak, Sutter, and Tierra Buena. Town fogging will continue on Thursday mornings in areas in Marysville, Linda, Olivehurst, Edgewater, Plumas Lake, and Wheatland. Meridian and Robbins are being sprayed on Thursday evenings. All pesticide applications are predicated on mosquito abundance, disease activity and favorable weather conditions. Spraying will be performed with pickup mounted foggers every week starting at about sunset (Meridian and Robbins), all other town routes will begin as early as 3:30am and continuing up to 6:30am. An aerial mosquito control application has been scheduled for orchard areas adjacent to Wheatland and Rio Oso on Monday evening. Orchard areas adjacent to District 10 and Hallwood have been scheduled for aerial spraying on Tuesday evening. Orchard areas adjacent to Live Oak have been scheduled for aerial spraying on Wednesday evening. Orchard areas adjacent to Plumas Lake have been scheduled for aerial spraying on Thursday evening. Orchard areas adjacent to West Yuba City have been scheduled for aerial spraying on Friday evening. Spraying will be performed starting at sunset and lasting 2 to 3 hours. All treatments are dependent on appropriate weather conditions, and visibility due to smoke. Aircraft applications will be made with a white Ag Wagon or a yellow and blue stripe Air Tractor flying at approximately 300 feet in elevation.

An aerial mosquito control application has been scheduled for agricultural areas south of Linda and Olivehurst, east of Plumas Lake, south of Wheatland, and Robbins on Monday evening. Agricultural areas west of Yuba City have been scheduled for aerial spraying on Tuesday evening. Agricultural areas North of Marysville and south Live Oak have been schedulued for aerial spraying on Wednesday evening. Spraying will be performed starting at sunset and lasting 2 to 3 hours.
