Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations who serve low- to moderate-income residents in the City of Yucaipa are encouraged to apply for potential funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The County of San Bernardino is currently accepting applications for Program Year 2027-2028. Applications must be submitted by or before 4PM on October 15, 2026. Eligible services include:

Services to Battered and Abused Spouses
Childcare Services
Senior Services (e.g., daycare programs or subsidized meal programs)
Handicapped Services
Health and Mental Health Services
Legal Services
Employment Training
Food Banks
Transportation Services

💙 September is National Senior Center Month!

At the September 14 City Council meeting, the City of Yucaipa proudly recognized National Senior Center Month with a proclamation celebrating the important role senior centers play in keeping older adults active, connected, and engaged in their communities.

Park and Recreation Commission Chair Van Grouw presented the proclamation alongside Scherer Community Center participants, instructors, and staff who help make our Senior Center such a special part of Yucaipa.

From classes and clubs to meals, transportation resources, wellness programs, and opportunities to connect, there’s always something happening at the Scherer Community Center.

🚒 Your Taxpayer Dollars at Work: Paramedic Squad 553

The City of Yucaipa is proud to announce the launch of Medic Squad 553, adding a fourth frontline paramedic unit to strengthen advanced life support services in our community.

With annual calls for service increasing from approximately 6,000 to nearly 10,000 since 2008, and approximately 75% of calls involving medical emergencies, Squad 553 will provide additional paramedic response capacity when our community needs it most.

While Squad 553 is built on an ambulance platform, it will primarily operate as a non-transport advanced life support unit, complementing dedicated ambulance transport services and providing additional capability during periods of extreme system demand.

On September 11, our community came together to remember the lives lost 25 years ago, honor the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s first responders, and reflect on the strength and unity shown in the days that followed.

Thank you to CAL FIRE, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, Assemblymember Greg Wallis, Supervisor Dawn Rowe, Mayor Chris Venable, Councilmembers Judy Woolsey and Bob Miller, Pastor Olin Richey, Rebecca Gossert, and everyone who joined us for this year’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

The City of Yucaipa is putting new resources into public safety with a new paramedic squad and a new traffic enforcement deputy, dedicated to responding to the needs and concerns of our community.

Both are scheduled to go live October 1 and will be here to serve you.
The Mayor and City Council are listening to the community and working to address your needs.
