Please join the GYEDC staff in wishing a very Happy Birthday to our incredible Project Manager, Michelle Lego!

For the past two and a half years, Michelle has been the welcoming face of GYEDC to our investors and partners. After serving as our Investor Account Manager, she stepped into the role of Project Manager and continues to take on greater responsibilities with dedication, positivity, and genuine care for our organization and community.

Michelle’s impact extends far beyond GYEDC. She serves on the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce Board, supports river cleanups with Friends of the Lower Colorado River, brings people together through a local garden club, and was recently recognized by the Arizona Office of Tourism for her outstanding work in our community.

Friendly, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand, Michelle is truly one of the people who makes Greater Yuma such a special place. GYEDC would not be where it is today without her hard work, heart, and commitment.

We are proud to announce that GYEDC has earned two 2026 IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards in Marketing:

GOLD “Aerospace and Defense in Greater Yuma: The Launchpad for Innovation and Security”

SILVER “The Desert Difference: The Proving Ground for AgTech Innovation”

Both films were recognized in the Multimedia Promotion category for communities with populations of 200,000 or more.

These films are more than marketing pieces. They are strategic business-attraction tools created to show companies, investors and decision-makers what Greater Yuma truly offers: innovation, industry expertise, critical infrastructure, a strategic binational location and a community ready to compete.

Over the past 18 months, GYEDC’s business-attraction efforts have earned six awards; five recognizing our industry films and one recognizing our Regional Industry Guide.

These awards do not mean the work is finished. They affirm that Greater Yuma’s economic story is distinctive, credible and nationally relevant, and that the strategy we are using to tell that story is opening doors and changing perceptions.
