☀️ May 1st is National Heatstroke Prevention Day ☀️

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of heatstroke, especially for children. The truth is this can happen to anyone. Busy schedules, changes in routine, stress, and lack of sleep can all impact memory. Even the most caring and attentive adults can unintentionally forget a child in the back seat.

When is this most likely to happen?
• Changes in routine (like a different caregiver doing drop-off)
• When you’re distracted, rushed, or stressed

🚗 Never leave a child in a vehicle.
Even with the windows cracked or the A/C on, a car can heat up to deadly temperatures in just minutes.

👀 Look before you leave.
Make it a habit to check the back seat every time you exit your vehicle.
Try placing something you need, like your phone, purse, or wallet next to your child’s car seat as a reminder.

❤️ Vehicular Heatstroke is 100% preventable.
Simple habits like double-checking your vehicle and using reminders can save lives.

Let’s work together to keep our children safe this summer.

On April 10th, we celebrated CASA Volunteer Week with our 33rd Annual CASA Recognition Banquet.
CASA volunteers and their guests were treated to a delicious meal prepared by the Civic Center Chef Ruben and we were
inspired by the speakers. Our very own Director, Imelda Arellano-Nunez gave the welcome message. Judge Farrar read the
proclamation and Courtney Wofford, Senior Director of the Western Region at Easterseals Blake Foundation was our main
speaker. All of them gave messages of hope, encouragement and inspiration to the CASAs.
Special awards were presented: CASA of the Year – Bernadette Presloid; Judges Award – Marde Randall; Rookie of the Year –
Andrea Barron; CASA Scholar – Chris O’Brien; Road Runner Award – Andrea Barron. We are grateful for the hard work and
dedication our volunteers put into every child they work with. It is an honor to support their efforts.
