Zachary Fire Department recently participated in specialized fentanyl awareness and response training to help keep our firefighters, EMS personnel, and community safe. The training covered recognition of potential opioid exposure, scene safety procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, emergency response protocols, and the importance of community education and awareness.
We’re committed to ongoing training, preparedness, and public education so we can continue serving our community with professionalism and care.
🚨Reminder to the public: fentanyl can be extremely dangerous, even in very small amounts, and is often found mixed into illegal drugs without a person’s knowledge. Never handle unknown substances, avoid using illegal drugs or medications not prescribed to you, and call 911 immediately if you suspect an overdose or exposure. Staying informed and aware can help save lives.
We would like to thank the Baton Rouge Fire Department HAZMAT Division for coming out and providing training to our department.
