IIs your household ready if an emergency happens? Preparedness starts at home. Take time today to create and practice an emergency plan so everyone knows what to do.

• Pick a safe place to meet
• Assign responsibilities
• Practice how to leave safely
• Make a plan on how to stay in touch

Keep emergency contact cards in everyone's wallet and backpack. Include out-of-state contact. They may be easier to reach during a local emergency.

If you or someone in your home has a disability, you may need to take additional steps to stay safe. After a disaster you may not have access to a medical facility or even a drugstore. It’s crucial to plan for your daily needs and know what you would do if they became limited or unavailable.

Did you know Muskingum County has a voluntary registry for people with disabilities to self-identify in order to receive targeted assistance during emergencies and disasters? Visit https://www.muskingumcountyoh.gov to learn more and sign up.

September is here. Which means September 26 suddenly doesn’t feel very far away. 👟

If the Zanesville City Half Marathon & 5K has been sitting in the back of your mind as something you might do this year, this is a pretty good week to turn “might” into registered.

Choose your distance—13.1 or 3.1—and start counting down with us. Both races begin in downtown Zanesville, and every finisher gets a custom finisher medal waiting on the other side of that finish line. 🏅
