Our neighbors summed it up! Please contact the Mercer County office at 701-745-3333 to report when and where any controlled burns are occurring.

CALL THE COUNTY IF YOU PLAN TO BURN A PIT OR OLD BUILDING! The weather and conditions we have are perfect for burning an old building or garbage pit. Cool temp, a blanket of snow, great conditions for making some smoke! However, please call the Mercer County office at 745-3333 if you have a controlled burn. It takes 60 seconds to report your intentions, and it will prevent emergency responders from being dispatched to your fire.

This morning the GVRFD was paged to assist Zap Rural Fire Department. Volunteers from both departments responded only to find out this was a controlled burn. Wasted time and resources due to lack of responsibility. Call in your burns folks!
