Tonight we celebrated two men who gave their all to our department. Assistant Chief Ross Carroll retired after 47 years of service. The impact that Ross had on our community through countless hours of service is immeasurable. He will be missed day to day but the legacy he built for us will carry on.

Treasurer David Brewer also decided to hangup the jacket, and pass on the checkbook... David’s service and calm demeanor will be missed.

We appreciate what both of these gentlemen have done for our organization and the sacrifices they and their families have made over the years. More pictures to come.

Extreme fire danger today. Please do not burn.

Increased Risk of Wildfire Due to Elevated Fire Danger -- Thursday, June 18, 2026

The National Weather Service has issued fire danger statements for central and eastern North Carolina. What does increased fire danger mean for you today?

🎯 Fires can start from the smallest spark.
🎯 Dry conditions and wind increase fire spread.
🎯 Everyday activities carry more risk right now.

Avoid burning, and be cautious with anything that could cause a spark. Properly dispose of smoking materials such as ci******es. Be extremely careful with machinery and farm equipment when working outdoors.

We would like to thank Deals On Wheels Auto Salvage for providing cars to use in our extrication/stabilization training for tonight. This training is important in the event we respond to a motor vehicle accident with people pinned or trapped. We want to be able to work as quickly and efficiently to remove the accident victims and stabilize the vehicle so it does not move further when we begin working.

The burn ban is lifted for Johnston County. Please burn carefully.

03/28/2026

Burn ban in effect today at 6pm.

Due to increased wildfire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within those 100 feet.
