Administrative Professionals Day gives us the opportunity to recognize the people who keep the Zeeland Police Department running behind the scenes.

Our administrative staff handles the work that often goes unseen, managing records, supporting officers, coordinating communication, and keeping daily operations organized and efficient. Their attention to detail and consistency are critical to everything we do.

While much of their work happens out of the public eye, it directly impacts our ability to serve the community.

Today, we thank them for their professionalism, dedication, and the countless things they do every day that make a difference.

We appreciate you.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pedestrian dies following collision with pickup truck in Zeeland

ZEELAND, MI โ€“ October 22, 2025 โ€“ The Zeeland Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident that occurred this morning on October 22, 2025. The incident took place on Main Ave., just East of Maple St. in the City of Zeeland.

Mary Boschma, 81, of Zeeland Township, was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:02 a.m. Preliminary findings indicate that a westbound pickup truck struck Ms. Boschma with its driverโ€™s side mirror while she was crossing the roadway in the dark and rainy morning. The driver of the pickup is a 32-year-old Zeeland resident.

First responders attempted life-saving efforts on scene before transporting Ms. Boschma to Corewell Zeeland. She was later transferred to Corewell Butterworth, where she succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash.

The Zeeland Police Department was assisted by the Zeeland Fire Department, AMR, and the Ottawa County Sheriffโ€™s Department. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing and there is no suspicion of drug or alcohol use. The truck appeared to have the right of way.
