At the conclusion of the class students will have the opportunity to test for 4 different Proboard Certifications covered in the program. Class size is limited, so please register before the class is full.

Today at 12:02pm, the Harmony Fire District, along with our mutual aid were dispatched to a structure fire at a business in Harmony Borough. The historic building on the corner of Mercer and Main Sts, which housed a local business office, was reported with a fire in the attic and in the process of evacuation.

Chief 22 arrived to confirm the conditions and directed the inbound crews on apparatus placement, directed fire attack, and requested a second alarm.

Tower 21 set up on the A/B Corner and Ladder 22 set up on the C/D corner while the crew from Engine 22 made the stretch to the third floor and began to extinguish the fire. Crews from 19, 21, 22 and others conducted truck company operations and coordinated the ventilation of the slate roof structure and exinguished the fire. Significant salvage operations took place in a attempt to limit damage to the contents of the building.

HFD was assisted by Cranberry Volunteer Fire Company, Evans City Fire Department, Callery Fire Department, Adams Area Fire District, Portersville-Muddy Creek Fire Department, FRISCO (Franklin Twp), Ellwood City Fire Department, Rochester Township, and North Sewickley Fire, Harmony EMS and Squad 98.

Crews operated on scene for approximately two hours. Thank you to all the local residents and businesses who offered refreshments during the event. We love our community!

In last evenings weekly training, HFD members honed their skills in relay pump operations, incorporating a unique twist. The traditional large diameter hose connected to a strong hydrant was substituted with a 2 1/2” supply line, effectively simulating the increased friction loss associated with longer hose lays or a weaker hydrant. By doing so, pump operators were compelled to remain attentive, fine-tuning the pump's operation to maintain a balance between water supply and demand. Along with effeciant pump operations, members also focused on clear and effective radio communications between each other.
