Zimmerman/Livonia Fire District

Zimmerman/Livonia Fire District The ZLFD proudly serves Zimmerman, Livonia Township, and several surrounding communities. Fire prevention is a large part of the Fire Department.

The Zimmerman Fire Department was renamed Zimmerman/Livonia Fire District in 2004, when the City of Zimmerman and Livonia Township formed a joint operating fire board. The Fire Department covers 78 square miles of service area which includes all of the City of Zimmerman, Livonia Township, and portions of Orrock Township, Blue Hill Township, and Stanford Township. The population served by the Depar

tment is approximately 12,000 citizens. A full range of services are offered to the community including fire suppression, rescue, and radiation decontamination for the nuclear power plant in Monticello. Our firefighters and fire prevention specialist visit schools and host in-house activities throughout the year. During Fire Prevention week every October, our fire department visits elementary schools and pre-schools with our safe escape house. The Fire District hired the Department's first full-time Fire Chief in 2008. The Fire Chief manages the Fire Department and has a staff of over 30 on-call firefighters that hold full-time jobs outside of the Fire Department. The firefighters are on-call 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. These highly trained firefighters provide a quality service to the citizens in our community.

At approximately 1:30 PM, ZLFD was dispatched to Westwood Elementary for an individual experiencing a medical emergency.

Due to the large presence of emergency vehicles on scene at the school, we wanted to let everyone know that there is no danger to the public and that the medical emergency has been addressed.

Thank you!

We would like to wish all students and staff of ISD 728 a great first day back at school!

Also we would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that busses are back on the roads and to be extra vigilant in both residential and rural areas.

Busses make frequent stops and children will be boarding and exiting.

It’s been a productive day for ZLFD. So far today we have responded to three calls for service with the last one (thus far) being a structure fire.

At 3:59pm ZLFD was dispatched to a structure fire on the 14000 block of 262nd Ave NW. Crews arrived to find a single family home with an attached garage. Heavy fire conditions were showing from the alpha side of the garage. An aggressive fire attack was made and the fire extinguished. The fire was successfully contained to the garage, saving the home. No one was injured during this incident.

The dance is 21+ and always a PARTY! Live music by Shane Martin, drinks, food, and more!

We appreciate the community’s support and couldn’t do what we do without you! We will see you there!
