Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park has a new beach-hazard flag warning system!
This system will consist of 3 large flagpoles located at our 3 entrances, along wadsworth road, 17th street, and 7th street.
We will also maintain a network of smaller flags located at key locations along the beach.
These flags will allow guests to determine the beach hazard level with just a quick glance.

GREEN indicates low hazard. However, always exercise caution while swimming at the beach.
YELLOW indicates elevated hazard level. Swimming is not recommended, and high levels of caution should be exercised.
RED indicated high beach hazard levels; high waves and dangerous conditions exist. We recommend NO swimming in red flag conditions.

If you have any questions, please contact our Natural Resources Coordinator at: [email protected].
