It's National HIV Testing Day!

National HIV Testing Day is commemorated each year on June 27th. The day provides an opportunity to create awareness about HIV as well as increase access to HIV testing services. National HIV Testing Day is an important entry point to HIV prevention, care, treatment and support.

This year, St. Vincent and the Grenadines will observe the day on Monday, 28th June, 2021, and have Island- Wide Testing throughout the week (Monday 28th June – Friday, 2nd July, 2021). This will be done under the theme, “Know Your Status, Get Tested”.

The objectives of this initiative are:
1. To increase public participation in the critical importance of Voluntary Counseling and Testing in preventing the spread of HIV infection
2. To mobilize the population to be tested and
3. To reduce HIV stigma and discrimination

HIV testing remains essential for slowing the spread of HIV infection. Getting an HIV test is quick, easy and free. It is also the only way to know for sure whether or not you have HIV. Knowing your HIV status is one of the most important steps you can take in protecting your health and that of your sexual partners.
