The BVI's maritime future is in safe hands. Smaller ones, too.
At this year's Rotary Kiddies Fiesta, VISMA staff taught children the basics of boating and water safety. Simple lessons that last: wear your life jacket, respect the water, know what to do when something goes wrong.
And through the Authority's partnership with KATS (Kids and the Sea), now in its fourth year, the training moves from the tent to the water. Young sailors handle small training boats, and running through real safety drills on board the Authority's vessel, alongside our team.
This is how safety becomes part of the BVI's sailing culture: one lesson, one life jacket, one young sailor at a time. The children building these habits now will be the captains, crew and boat owners tomorrow keeping our waters safe for generations.
