𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) wishes to advise the public of an important change to the administration of visa waivers.

Effective immediately, visa waivers will no longer be valid for the remaining life of the holder's passport. Instead, all visa waivers issued under the revised policy will be granted for a maximum period of two (2) years, irrespective of the expiry date of the passport.

This change forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security measures and maintain the mutual security of both parties in the visa waiver scheme.

Applicants seeking a visa waiver should note that approval remains subject to all existing eligibility requirements. The granting of a visa waiver continues to be considered on a case-by-case basis, with necessary consultation with our law enforcement counterparts in the United States.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is committed to facilitating appropriate administration of the scheme, working in partnership with partners in the interest of mutual safety and security. We appreciate the public's cooperation and understanding we work to implement this change.

🌟 Apprentice Spotlight | Government of the Virgin Islands Apprenticeship Programme

Every great legal career begins with a first step, and Ms. Orrisa Thomas is already laying a strong foundation as she pursues her dream of becoming a corporate lawyer.

During her placement with the Civil Registry and Passport Office’s Nationality Unit, Orrisa assisted with filing and data entry while gaining firsthand insight into the important work carried out behind the scenes. One of her biggest takeaways was learning that the naturalisation process is far more detailed and time-intensive than it appears, giving her a new appreciation for the precision and care involved in public service.

This experience has helped Orrisa strengthen valuable skills in organisation, accuracy and professionalism qualities that will serve her well as she continues her journey toward a career in law.

We extend our sincere thanks to the team at the Civil Registry & Passport Office of The Virgin Islands Government for investing in Orrisa’s growth and providing her with such a meaningful learning experience.

*🌟 APPRENTICE SPOTLIGHT: DESTINI JEFFREY 🌟*

For *Ms. Destini Jeffrey*, her apprenticeship experience has been an introduction to a side of Government that many people rarely get to see the careful work that takes place behind every application and official document.

Placed with the *Civil Registry & Passport Office in the Naturalisation Unit*, Destini has been learning just how detailed the *Naturalisation and Registration* process really is. Her responsibilities have included reviewing applications to ensure the required documents are in place, as well as scanning, entering and filing important records.

What has stood out most to Destini is discovering that becoming naturalised or registered involves far more than simply submitting an application. The experience has strengthened her appreciation for accuracy, organisation and attention to detail, while giving her the confidence to carry out different stages of the application process.

She has also enjoyed the people behind the work. Meeting and working alongside officers within the department has been one of the most memorable parts of her placement, and the welcoming environment has left her open to the possibility of one day returning to work within the *Government of the Virgin Islands.*

A student of *Elmore Stoutt High School*, Destini is keeping her future options open, with ambitions of becoming either a *Real Estate Agent or a Criminal Psychologist*.

We thank the *Civil Registry & Passport Office* for giving Destini the opportunity to look beyond the paperwork and gain a meaningful understanding of the important work happening behind the scenes of the Public Service. 🇻🇬

🌟 Apprentice Spotlight | Government of the Virgin Islands Apprenticeship Programme

With aspirations of becoming a Humanitarian Lawyer, 17-year-old Mr. Kodey Richards is already gaining valuable experience in public service through his placement at the Civil Registry and Passport Office, Virgin Gorda Branch.

Kodey has especially enjoyed assisting members of the public and learning more about the Passport Office's important role in serving the community.

Through his placement, he has also developed a deeper appreciation for the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism, particularly when handling sensitive information and official documents.

We commend Kodey for his interest in service, justice and helping others. Sixty Persons Registered as British Citizens

The Civil Registry and Passport Office is pleased to announce that 60 persons were registered as British citizens during a Citizenship Ceremony held at Government House on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.

During the ceremony, the newly registered citizens received congratulatory remarks from the Governor of the Virgin Islands, His Excellency Mr. Daniel Pruce, and Registrar General, Mrs. Tashi O’Flaherty-Maduro.

In his address, the Governor stated:

“I congratulate you on having persevered with the process and for having demonstrated your allegiance to the United Kingdom as well as to the Virgin Islands. The British citizenship passport to which you will now be entitled enables you to enjoy rights of residence and employment in the United Kingdom. This opens up new opportunities for study and professional development, which I hope you will grasp.”

Registrar General, Mrs. Tashi O’Flaherty Maduro reminded the new citizens of the significance of their achievement, stating:

“Citizenship carries rights and privileges, but it also reflects commitment, commitment to shared values, civic responsibility, respect for others, and active participation in community life. It connects us not only to a legal status, but to a wider story and a shared future.”

The Civil Registry and Passport Office extends its warmest congratulations to all newly registered British citizens and wishes them every success as they embark on this new chapter.

Consular Representative to Hold Appointments for U.S. Citizens in the British Virgin Islands, July 15, 2026
A Consular Officer from the U.S. Embassy will visit the British Virgin Islands to accept applications by appointment only for U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. We would like to remind everyone that this visit will not include visa issues, and we will be unable to address visa questions or discuss visa cases.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL APPLICATIONS FOR PASSPORTS AND REPORTS OF BIRTH ABROAD MUST BE PRE-PAID ONLINE. WE CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT BANK DRAFTS OR OTHER FORMS OF PAYMENT. PAYMENT DIRECTIONS ARE BELOW.

Limited, routine appointments in Tortola will be held at Maria’s by the Sea Hotel Conference Room, Road Town VG1110.

Two passport-size photos (2” x 2”);
Original proof of U.S. citizenship such as previous U.S. passport, U.S. birth certificate, U.S. Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or U.S. naturalization certificate; and a social security card;
A prepaid air waybill (FedEx or DHL) to have the new passport mailed back to you;
Printed proof of online payment. See #4 How to Pay below;
**Originals AND photocopies of all documents, including a copy of the passport you are renewing**

Children Under 16 must also have:

All documents listed above PLUS;
The child’s birth certificate;
Both parents’ passports or other identification;
Photos showing the child’s development from the last passport issuance.
For a child under age 16, if both parents are listed on the birth certificate, BOTH parents must appear in person with the child OR a signed, notarized Form DS-3053: Statement of Consent from the non-applying parent/guardian must be submitted;

Child’s passport (under age 16): US$135
First adult passport (16+): US$165
Consular Report of Birth Abroad: US$100
Notarial services: US$50 per signature


If you are renewing a 10-year passport issued less than 15 years ago and can present your expired passport, you may apply by mail directly to the Embassy. The fee is US$130. If you cannot present a previous 10-year passport issued less than 15 years ago, you must appear in person for an interview with the Consular Officer. The fee for this service is US$165.
