𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 – The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) continues its efforts to locate Mozart Peters, also known as Dexter, who remains missing.

Mr. Peters has been missing since 17th August 2026 and was last seen in the Free Bottom area. Police and members of the community have conducted searches in an effort to locate him, and the RVIPF continues to follow up on information that may assist in determining his whereabouts.

Mr. Peters is described as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a slim build and dark complexion. He was last known to be wearing a white vest and light blue underpants and was not wearing shoes.

The RVIPF and Mr. Peters’ family remain concerned for his welfare and are once again appealing to members of the public to assist with the search. Anyone who may have seen Mr. Peters or has information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact 311, the nearest police station, or any member of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

The RVIPF thanks members of the community who have assisted with search efforts and continues to urge anyone with information to contact the RVIPF.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, as it could assist officers in locating Mr. Peters and ensuring his safe return.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) advises motorists of a minor landslide at Fort Hill, with rocks and debris partially obstructing the roadway.

Motorists are strongly advised to proceed with caution, reduce their speed, and remain alert when approaching the affected area. Where possible, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes until the roadway has been cleared and an all-clear is given.

The RVIPF thanks the public for their cooperation and urges motorists to exercise patience and caution while travelling through the area.

𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐏𝐅 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐒 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Financial Crime Unit (RVIPF FCU) has been recognised for its responsiveness to international financial crime investigations, receiving the ARIN-CARIB Most Responsive Member Award for 2025/2026.

The award was presented at the Asset Recovery Interagency Network Caribbean (ARIN-CARIB) Annual General Meeting, held July 2026 in Georgetown, Guyana. ARIN-CARIB connects asset-recovery and financial-crime authorities across the Caribbean and supports the rapid exchange of information needed to trace, restrain, and recover criminal assets.

The BVI was recognised for its timeliness, reliability, and professionalism in its responses to requests from international partners.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kenrick Davis, noted that the award highlights the professionalism and dedication of the RVIPF FCU and reinforces the Territory's reputation as a trusted international financial centre.

"This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our officers and the strong collaboration with our partners," said Acting Deputy Commissioner Davis. "It demonstrates the Virgin Islands' unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards in fighting illicit finance".

Additionally, it is a direct reflection of the significant strategic advancements made in both the Territory's regulatory and investigative architecture and follows years of targeted work undertaken to build and sustain capacity within the RVIPF-FCU, positioning it as a model of operational effectiveness.

The achievement also demonstrates the success of the Government of the Virgin Islands' comprehensive National Strategic Action Plan to combat financial crime. This strategic roadmap has strengthened legislative reforms, enhanced investigative capabilities, and improved international cooperation to meet the global standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Specifically, recent legislative enhancements, including the 2025 amendments to the Proceeds of Criminal Conduct Act, have provided law enforcement with modern tools such as customer information orders and account monitoring orders to effectively pursue financial crime and recover illicit assets.

The award underscores the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in the BVI. The RVIPF FCU operates at the core of a robust framework involving the Financial Investigation Agency (FIA), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and other competent authorities.

Formal information-sharing arrangements between the FIA and RVIPF have enhanced the quality of intelligence, positioning the Territory on a trajectory for successful financial investigations. This collaborative approach, recently reinforced by Memoranda of Understanding between agencies, ensures that the Territory presents a unified front in combatting money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crimes.

As of today, The RVIPF's Administration Unit has resumed accepting Visa Waiver applications.

2. All Visa Waivers applied for from today onward would be valid for two years irrespective of the validity of the holder's passport.

𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) wishes to advise the public of an important change to the administration of visa waivers.

Effective immediately, visa waivers will no longer be valid for the remaining life of the holder's passport. Instead, all visa waivers issued under the revised policy will be granted for a maximum period of two (2) years, irrespective of the expiry date of the passport.

This change forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security measures and maintain the mutual security of both parties in the visa waiver scheme.

Applicants seeking a visa waiver should note that approval remains subject to all existing eligibility requirements. The granting of a visa waiver continues to be considered on a case-by-case basis, with necessary consultation with our law enforcement counterparts in the United States.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is committed to facilitating appropriate administration of the scheme, working in partnership with partners in the interest of mutual safety and security. We appreciate the public's cooperation and understanding we work to implement this change.

𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐏𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐌𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐉𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐇 - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) confirms that 21-year-old Jason Smith has been remanded in custody following his conviction on three (3) counts of Robbery and one (1) count of Possession of Proceeds of Criminal Conduct.

The convictions stem from an incident that occurred on June 11, 2023, in the parking lot of UP’s Cineplex. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the complainant and three victims were in the parking lot following a movie when they were approached by a male dressed in dark clothing and armed with a firearm.

The male pointed the firearm at the group and demanded their mobile phones and jewellery. During the robbery, two of the victims were struck in the head, resulting in lacerations. The victims complied with the demands, handing over their mobile phones and jewellery. The perpetrator then fled the area with the stolen items. A report was made to the Road Town Police Station shortly after the incident, and an investigation was launched.

Court proceedings concluded on July 30, 2026, with Smith being found guilty of the four offences. Supreme Court Justice Angelica Teelucksingh ordered that Smith be remanded in custody pending sentencing on 18th September 2026.

The RVIPF remains committed to protecting the community, investigating serious offences, and supporting the judicial process in ensuring that offenders are held accountable.

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool stated, “This conviction reflects the continued dedication of our officers and investigators in bringing offenders before the courts. Robbery is a serious offence that can have a lasting impact on victims and threatens the safety and confidence of our community. I wish also renew my appreciation and commendation to our hardworking officers who dedicated much time and effort in investigating this matter and to support the prosecution of the case in the High Court. Similarly, we are grateful for the work of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions which was central the success of this matter. We will continue our efforts to investigate and prosecute those responsible for violent and predatory crimes and ensure that offenders are held accountable.”

𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐏 𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) reports that investigations into a physical altercation that occurred during the Rise and Shine Tramp on 4th August 2026 have resulted in the arrest and charging of two individuals.

Following inquiries into the incident, officers charged:
• Raykoy Larch, 20, of Long Bush, with Wounding and Armed with an Offensive Weapon. He was granted $8,000 bail to return on 8th October 2026.
• Makai Francis, 26, of Little Dix Hill, with Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm. He was granted $10,000 bail to return on 24th September 2026.

The RVIPF reiterates its commitment to public safety and ensuring peace during public festivities. Further police enquiries into other public safety incidents during the festive season remain ongoing.
