On St. Croix, horse racing is not just sport. It is heritage, livelihood and a gathering place that has carried generations of Crucian pride.
St. Croix businessman Shawn “Ciga” Baptiste speaks plainly about why bringing racing back matters, not only for the horsemen and fans, but for the young men who need positive places to put their time, energy and pride.
Ciga has long believed in the future of horse racing on St. Croix, including expressing interest in developing a local track in 2022. His message is one many Crucians understand well. When our young people have something constructive to belong to, our whole community is stronger.
The Bryan-Roach Administration remains committed to a responsible path forward for the return of horse racing on St. Croix and across the Territory.
Because this is not just about racing horses. It is about restoring a piece of our culture and building something meaningful for the next generation.
