🇻🇮 USVI LACROSSE IS HEADED TO POLAND! 🥍🌍

The U.S. Virgin Islands continues to make its mark on the international sports stage!

The USVI Men’s National Lacrosse Team recently competed in the Pan American World Championship Qualifiers in Jamaica, facing eight other nations and some of the strongest lacrosse programs in the world.

After five games of competition, Team USVI secured an impressive victory over Argentina, earning qualification to compete in Poland in July 2027. 🇻🇮🇵🇱

Their success represents much more than a win on the field. The continued growth of lacrosse throughout St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix is creating new opportunities for Virgin Islands youth, strengthening pathways for both male and female athletes, and introducing another avenue through which the Territory can expand its presence in sports tourism.

From international competition to local clinics and youth development, lacrosse is helping showcase the talent, discipline and potential of Virgin Islanders while creating opportunities to one day welcome visiting teams, families, camps and tournaments to our shores.

Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers and supporters who continue to grow the sport throughout the Territory.

🏀🇻🇮 TEAM ISV MAKES THE VIRGIN ISLANDS PROUD! 🥈

The U.S. Virgin IsU.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourismthe Virgin Islands University Sports Federation Men’s Basketball Team on an outstanding showing at the 2026 FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, where Team ISV captured the silver medal and earned qualification for the 2027 World University Games in South Korea.

We celebrate the entire team, coaching staff, including Coach Kevin Sheppard and Assistant Coach Donald Bough, and all those whose support, preparation and commitment helped make this achievement possible. Representing the Virgin Islands on an international stage is an accomplishment that belongs not only to those on the court, but to the community that stands behind them. 🇻🇮

Among the team’s standout performances was Amayoa’ah Phillips, who finished the tournament as the overall leading scorer with 92 points in just four games — an incredible individual achievement as part of Team ISV’s successful run.

Upon his return to the Territory, Amayoa’ah was welcomed by Director of Visitor Experience Nicole George-Petersen, who congratulated him on his performance and for representing the Virgin Islands with distinction.

Our athletes continue to demonstrate the tremendous talent that exists within our islands and the power of sports to carry the Virgin Islands story far beyond our shores.

Congratulations to Amayoa’ah, his teammates, coaches, families, supporters and everyone who helped make this journey possible.

🏆🇻🇮 CHAMPIONS, WELCOME HOME! 🇻🇮🏆

From the Caribbean Regionals to the WORLD STAGE, our Virgin Islands young women brought it HOME! 🥎

Today, U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism team members across the Territory proudly welcomed home the USVI Nike RBI 18U Women’s Softball Team, the 2026 Nike RBI Softball World Series Champions!

After an undefeated run to capture the Caribbean Regional Championship, Team USVI advanced to the Nike RBI Softball World Series in Vero Beach, Florida, where they defeated the Houston Astros Nike RBI team, 3 to 1, to claim the championship title. 🏆

What a moment for the Virgin Islands! 🇻🇮

To our incredible athletes, dedicated coaching staff, supportive families, and everyone who played a role in making this championship journey possible, thank you for representing the U.S. Virgin Islands with excellence, determination, and pride.

These young women didn’t just bring home a trophy. They showed the world the incredible talent, resilience, and competitive spirit of the Virgin Islands.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism appeared before the 36th Legislature during its Fiscal Year 2027 budget hearing.

The hearing provided an important opportunity to discuss the Department’s priorities, highlight the work being done to strengthen our tourism industry, and share how strategic investments continue to support our economy, our communities, and the people of the Virgin Islands.

From destination marketing and air service development to cultural preservation, visitor experience, and community partnerships, our team remains committed to ensuring tourism delivers meaningful and lasting benefits across St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas.

We thank the members of the Legislature for the thoughtful dialogue and the opportunity to share our vision for the future of tourism in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
