Do you have a Tesla Powerwall at your home or business in the USVI? If so, it is eligible for the VIEO's 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 (𝐕𝐏𝐏) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 $𝟒,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬.

The VPP allows participating Powerwalls to work together during scheduled events to provide additional support to the U.S. Virgin Islands electric grid.

VIEO provides a participation payment to eligible Powerwall owners who enroll in the VPP and allow their battery to participate in these grid-support events. The program is designed to provide a benefit to both the participant and the broader community by putting existing battery capacity to work when it can be most useful.

Five fully outfitted Ford Mustang Mach-E VIPD patrol units are heading into service across St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, bringing electric transportation into one of the most demanding areas of public service in the USVI.

The vehicles were purchased through the same U.S. Department of the Interior Energizing Insular Communities grant that funded VIEO’s battery-coupled DC Fast Charger at UVI RTPark. Earlier today, in a true full-circle moment that charger delivered the patrol units their first fast charge using renewable energy from the site’s 423 kW solar system.

Earlier this week, Metro Motors also hosted VIPD officers and mechanics for a hands-on familiarization workshop, helping build the local knowledge and service capacity needed to support the Territory’s growing electric fleet.

Police vehicles are among the most highly utilized and mission-critical vehicles in government service. Their electrification sends a clear message: no vehicle class gets left behind in the Virgin Islands’ transportation electrification transition.

A stalwart crew from the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services helped VIEO hand deliver the final batch of portable batteries and solar panels slated for medically compromised St. Johnians this Friday in Cruz Bay. The portable emergency backup batteries, part of the Virgin Islands Resiliency Gateway initiative launched by Government House - US Virgin Islands, will help ensure that essential medical devices and temperature sensitive medications remain available in emergency situations.

On Friday VIEO wrapped up the final distribution of portable batteries and solar panels on St. Croix earmarked for medically vulnerable community members. VIEO would like to thank the Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority for its help making the Virgin Islands Resiliency Gateway program a success. WAPA's assistance included organizing staff volunteers to help load the emergency backup stations, as well as referring medically compromised individuals eligible for the program from its certified medical do not disconnect list.
