The VIWMA was created to develop and implement a comprehensive waste management program which would provide financial accountability, fiscal management and operational efficiency of the Territory’s waste management programs, thus ensuring the continued protection of public health and the environment. It is responsible for its own debts, assets, contracts, expenditures, funds, facilities and proper

ty. The VIWMA is comprised of two main operations divisions: Solid Waste and Wastewater. The Office of Compliance Management and Environmental Enforcement is the support arm of the operations division. These divisions are additionally supported by the Office of the Executive Director, which also includes the General Counsel, Communications Management, Information Technology, and Environmental Health and Safety, the Division of Program Development, which includes Planning, Environmental Programs and Engineering, and the Divisions of Finance, Human Resources, and Procurement and Property.

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) is excited to offer residents a convenient way to properly dispose of bulk waste, appliances, and scrap metal. This weekend, take the opportunity to clear out old furniture, replace outdated appliances, or prepare for hurricane season by responsibly getting rid of scrap metal and other unwanted items. Join us in making our community cleaner and safer!

📍Visit the designated collection sites on St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John. See the flyer for locations, accepted materials, and convenience center hours.

VIWMA is proud to support community efforts to keep our Virgin Islands clean and beautiful!

The community is coming together for a Massive Virgin Islands Community Cleanup in the Red Hook area on Saturday, September 19th at 7:00 AM.

📅 Cleanup Day: Saturday, September 19, 2026
⏰ Time: 7:00 AM
📍 Cleanup Path: Roadside along the Red Hook Terminal to the Sapphire Hotel area
🚗 Parking: Ivanna Eudora Kean High School
⛺ Meeting Point: Please look for the cleanup tent at the designated meeting area.

Residents, families, community leaders, organizations, and volunteers are encouraged to come out and lend a hand. Every effort makes a difference!
